Cooper, A&M director of student publications said. Nothing in the A&M contract with BPI prohibit such a sale. Cooper said. “We re not responsible for any bills or any unpublished work of theirs (BPI’s),’ Blake said. “Aubrey (Linne) doesn’t know about all the dealings we’ve had, ” he said. “Aubrey’s a fine gentleman. He didn t intentionally tell you anything that wasn t true. Linne said Tuesday BPI does not have the capacity to do anything with the A&M directory. The Midland company presently has eight em ployes working in a plant that at one time employed over 60. Blake said he may advance BPI funds to cover costs on the A&M di rectory “if I can see my way clear of costs incurred. ” Blake said he had personally ad vanced money to BPI to cover other work the firm is responsible for. “They (BPI) probably have 30 or 40 or 50 publications still to print, he said. Blake said he was “not at all aware of the production status of the A&M directory. University Systems Attorney James Amis Jr. has not yet told A&M officials what legal action may be open to the University. A&M Presi dent Jack K. Williams Monday asked Amis through Executive Vice- President Clyde Freeman to evaluate the BPI contract. Cooper said yesterday the Univer sity Printing Center is preparing to publish the directory here if he re ceives official clearance. “We re gearing up so we can start production if we get clearance,” Cooper said. “We 11 sell the book exactly at cost,’ he said. Total cost should be $1.97 per directory if the University produces it. “We re really more interested in the service,” Cooper said. Production under the BPI con tract would allow the University to put a directory in each dorm room free of charge. Cooper said.
