The Ags with four wins and no los ses in conference play lead the SWC with Tech currently in second place with a 5-1 slate. Arkansas is tied in third place with a 3-3 record. Delph is the only non-senior of that crew, and he is a sophomore. Leading the Aggies in the contest will be Sonny Parker who is scoring at a 19.4 points-per-game average, obtaining 7.3 rebounds per game, and who leads the team in assists with 46 and in steals with 36. He is strongly backed by leading reboun der (9.9) Barry Davis who puts in an average of 15.4 points per game. Sonny P is averaging 19.0 in SWC action and Davis is scoring 17.5 in the league. Other Aggie starters will be Ray Roberts, scoring 12.4 ppg, Karl Godine at 13.0, and Jarvis Williams scoring at 8.8. Top reserves who will see a lot of action are Wally Swanson (6.2), Steve Jones (5.9), Joey Robinson (4.2) and defensive whiz Gates Er win. Last year’s SWC battle amounted to a stretch duel between A&M and the Hogs. Arkansas won the first game in Fayetteville last year, a 95-89 thriller in double overtime. In the return engagement the Ags won on a last second jumpshot by Mike Floyd 62-60 before the biggest crowd ever to watch basketball in Brazos County, 10,308. Although the Hogs have already lost three conference games, they are still in the thick of the race. Picked in the pre-season guesswork as one of the top four contenders for the crown, the Hogs have not lost their respectability. The three losses suffered so far have come by a com bined four points. They lost one- pointers to SMU and Houston and a two-pointer, 59-57 last Tuesday to Texas as the Ags were defeating Houston, 74 to 67. In Fayetteville, the Razorbacks crumbled Houston, winning by 45 points. It was the worst loss in Cougar history and a brutal way to enter the SWC. Tipoff for Saturday’s game is 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on KTAM radio. Oklahoma tackle receives Vince Lombardi Award By KEVIN VENNER Battalion StafT Writer Former Aggie football great.
