SG to hold orientation
Because of the Judicial Board in
junction prohibiting the Student
Senate to transact any official busi
ness, a group consisting mainly of
senators will meet Wednesday
night at 7:30 p.m. in room 204 of the
Harrington Center.
Consisting of general information
and orientation for new senators,
the meeting will feature introduc
tions of the Student Government
Executive Committee who will exp
lain the purpose and functions of
their various committees: Finance,
Rules and Regulations, Academic
Affairs, External Affairs and Student
Services.
The manner in which a resolution
should be discussed, debated, pas
sed or failed will also be discussed at
the meeting.
Information about two new bills
will also be distributed to senate
members.
The first proposal concerns the

Mr. and Mrs. James M. Singleton
III of San Antonio were named
Aggie Parents of the Year Sunday at
Texas A&M University.
The San Antonio couple was cho
sen for overall contributions to
TAMU based on sustained and de
monstrated interest in the univer
sity and its students.
The Singletons have had five of
their six children attend A&M. Two
daughters are currently enrolled.
Another is not registered this
semester because of an operation.
Jim IV, an Aggie football letter-
man, and Jeff graduated in 1966. JiF
is in the Class of 1976, Dottie ’77
and Hollee 78.
Mr. and Mrs. Singleton succeed
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth G. Hamilton
of Lamesa as Aggie Parents of the
Year.
The Singletons were presented
Aggie ring crest jewelry by Program
Chairman Tom Walker as a
memento of the occasion.
Corps units cited
for achievements
Air Force ROTC units won the
Corps of Cadets three major unit
awards Sunday.
Squadron 9, commanded by
David Tiller of Houston, won the
Gen. George F. Moore Flag,
guidon streamer and citation cord
for best overall achievement.
Squadron 12, under George B.
Theilen of Dallas, won the George
P. F. Jouine Flag for the third year.
It signifies the best scholastic
achievement by a corps unit.
Squadron 8 received the Bruno
A. Hochmuth Flag for military
achievement. The squadron led by
Les Harvey of Houston will wear
Maroon citation cords. His unit also
won the Gen. Spencer Buchanan
award as the best engineering unit.

RHA positions open
Applications for the offices of public relations and treasurer of the
Residence Hall Association are now available in the Student Programs Office
of the MSC.
Applications must be completed and submitted by noon April 29.
Interviews will be held April 29 and 30. |
Corps “Quad Hop”
The Corps of Cadets will sponsor a “Quad Hop” on April 26 in the corps
area.
There will be no admission charge and live music will be furnished by
Plum Nilly.
Festivities will last from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. The entire student body is
invited.
Intercollegiate horse show
The Texas A&M Collegiate Horseman’s Association will sponsor an
open intercollegiate show April 26.
English and Western events will include halter and performance events
and jackpot cutting, roping and barrels.
The show will be held at the Aggie Rodeo Arena with activities begin
ning at 8 a.m.
Gl tutorial benefits
Dependents of deceased or totally disabled veterans are eligible for the
recently increased tutorial assistance benefits.
The expanded GI Bill boosted benefits to $720 per year for accredited
tutorial assistance.
Students must report the number of individualized tutoring sessions
and return the claim within one year of the school year division in which the
assistance was furnished.
Veterans’ deadline
The last time veterans discharged between Jan. 31, 1955 and June 1,
1966 may collect benefits is May 31, 1976.
Veterans are reminded to take care of accreditation for both summer
and fall sessions as soon as possible by visiting the campus headquarters in
Hart Hall. »
Any veterans or dependents with questions regarding benefits or ser
vices should contact the vet reps.
