The third game of the tourney was a different story as the Aggies ran into a roadblock known as the Baylor Bears. Baylor won the game, but not without help. “Let me put it this way, they had 12 fouls to our 29, and that sounds a little fishy,” Aggie coach Kay Don said. “It was really bad, we had four starters who were out of the game with ten minutes left.” “I won’t blame it all on the refs but it was really had. I think things will be a little different when they come and play on our court,” Don said. The two teams get together on the Aggies home court tonight, game time 5:15. T thought it was one of our best games of the year, it was really a team effort,” Don said. The Aggie scoring was well bal anced in the Baylor game with three Aggies scoring in double figures. Laura Holmes led all scorers with 18. Karen Aulenbacher had 14, and Diane Quitta had 12. Other Ags get ting into the scoring act were Cissy Auclair with nine, Sally Morisse with eight, Cindy Horton six, and Dana Callaway and Ruth Whiteley beach has two. In the third place game the Ag gies had a tough time with Texas Women’s University before finally winning out 6Q-54. Cissy Auclair was high for tbe Aggies with 26, fol lowed Dy Jially Morisse with 14 and Karen Aulenbacher’s eight. Cissy Auclair was named to the All-Tournament team for the Ag gies. After tonight’s re-match with Baylor the Aggies go to Houston Friday for the City of Houston Wo men’s Tournament. There are 31 teams from four states in the tour nament with the Aggies playing Baylor again at 2:00 Friday. Basketball team hopes to regain winning ways By MIKE BRUTON Sports Editor The Texas Aggie basketball team will attempt to atone for its loss to the Razorbacks and give Coach Shelby Metcalf his 100th SWC win when the Baylor Bears invade G. Rollie White Coliseum tonight. The Ags will probably have fire in their eyes after suffering a 95-89 double overtime defeat at the hands of Arkansas. This will be a must game for the A&M hoopsters, as they are again tied with the Hogs for the conference lead at 5-1. An Aggie win tonight would make Metcalf the fourth coach in SWC basketball history with 100 loop wins. Baylor Coach Carroll Dawson brings a 3-3 SWC slate into the con test with hopes of robbing Metcalf of the century mark tonight. He also brings with him one of the finest freshman players in the conference in the person of 6-9y2 center Tony Rufus along with sophomore guard Billy Carlisle have been the main spark of the Baylor attack. Rufus is the leading scorer for the Bears with Carlisle being an excel- taken lightly as they are only one point away from being tied for sec ond with Tech at 4-2, after losing a squeaker to Texas Saturday 63-62. The Bears starting lineup is rounded out by Tom Corley at guard, James Weaver and Jeff Mil ler at the forwards. Tonight’s game will be the 126th meeting between the two teams with A&M leading the series 75-50. Fans can expect a physical game when the Bears come to town, espe cially tonight with both teams striv- int to overcome tough losses. The depth-laden Aggies ap peared to be ready for the game as they shot well and moved briskly in yesterday’s workout. The probable starting lineup for the Aggies will be Mike Floyd, Sonny Parker, John Thornton, Jerry Mercer and Barry Davis. The Aggies will face Arkansas in a rematch Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at G.
