AUSTIN (AP) — Can 76,000 vet

Apparently not, the Senate State

Nov. 11 was Armistice Day in
honor of the end of World War I but

DPS to list old drivers
AUSTIN (AP) — The Depart
ment of Public Safety must supply a
New York company with the names
and addresses of all older Texas
drivers for a mailing list, Atty. Gen.
John Hill said Wednesday.
Senior Citizens Unlimited of
Tuckahoe, N.Y., asked the DPS for
names, addresses, dates ofbirth and
license expiration date for all Texas
drivers over the age of 64 whose
licenses have been issued or re
newed since Jan. I, 1973.
The company’s lawyers in
Washington, D.C., told the DPS
that Senior Citizens helps
businessmen market products and
services for “mature adults, ages
64-85. Specifically, the request
stated, the company provides mail
ing lists for such businesses as
health insurance companies, phar
macies and even political candi
dates.
Hill said the 1973 Open Records
Act requires DPS “to supply large
volume class type information from
the basic licensing records of Texas
drivers.
Hill said DPS must consult with
the State Board of Control to de
termine how much to charge Senior
Citizens.
