FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) —
Guard Rickey Medlock dropped in
16 points and forward Kent Allison
picked bff 10 rebounds as the Arkan
sas Razorbacks built a seven-point
halftime lead then held on for a
65-62 Southwest Conference vic
tory over Texas Tech.
Tech center Rick Bullock led both
teams in the scoring department
with 21 points, 14 of them in the first
half.
Allison surprised many by taking
rebounding honors from Bullock,
who had eight. Allison managed 12
points.
Medlock hit on seven of 11 from
the field.
First-year head coach Eddie Sut
ton praised his defense for the vic
tory.
T felt like our defense was the
key,” said Sutton. “I was disap
pointed in the defense at times, but
that was caused by Bullock. The de
fense did, however, end up winning
the game for us. We are beginning
to become of age. The players are
gaining more confidence each
week.
“Texas Tech is still the best team
we’ve played this year. We had
tremendous crowd support tonight.
The crowd picked up two or three
times when we started to let down.
If Tech had left here tonight with a
win, it would have put them way
ahead in the conference race.”
The victory lifts the Hogs record
to 7-6 overall and 1-0 in the loop.
Tech dropped to 7-6 and 0-1.
