County court faces
"routine business’
By STEVE GRAY
Staff Writer
The Brazos County Commission
ers Court will have its hands full
with routine business when it meets
for its regular monthly meeting
Monday morning at 10.
The court will consider renewing
its maintenance contract with Hon
eywell Corporation, which covers
the heating and air conditioning sys
tem for the county courthouse. The
company was contracted for $1,332
this year and is asking for $1,692 to
maintain the system next year.
Commissioners will also consider
renewing the term for the county’s
health officer, Dr. Raymond Buck,
who has been with the county for
about three years, according to
County Judge William R. Vance.
The court must either appoint a new
health officer or renew the term of
the present one every two years,
Vance said.
Also included on the agenda will
be consideration of a date for a pub
lic hearing of Brazos County Munic
ipal Utility District No. 1. The court
will also decide whether to adopt a
resolution from the Texas Highway
Department to assume mainte
nance responsibility for the old
route of Old State Road (OSR).
Payment of $1,727 for communi
cations equipment purchased for
county vehicles through the Brazos
Valley Development Council
(BVDC) will be considered by the
commissioners as well as payment of
$1,119 to Brazos Graphics for print
ing of voting precinct maps.
Other items on Monday’s agenda
include:
•Consideration of a request by
the county probation department of
a resolution supporting the enact
ment of legislation providing for
statewide probation.
•A proposal for servicing fire ex
tinguishers for the county.
•A proposal to improve Mumford
Road.
•Adoption of a contract for volun
teer services with the Retired
Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP).
•Payment of property liability by
county vehicles.
•Consideration of a resolution
concerning soil conservation work
by the individual county precincts.
•Payment of fire calls and foster
care bills.

tury.
An “original print” is defined by
Roten as the image on paper or simi
lar material taken from the artist’s
original engraving, etching, lithog
raph or silk screen. “Original
prints,” not to be confused with a
photo offset lithograph, are repro
duced in small quantities and indi
vidually numbered.
Drill Team
to begin
competing
The Fish Drill Team competes for
the first time Saturday.
The 12th Gulf Coast Drill Meet
will be the ribbon-breaker for the
1974-75 all-freshman team.
It was assembled this fall from
TAMU’s Class of 1978 by upperclass
advisors led by senior Mike Whitted
of League City.
The FDT will go against teams
from six other state schools. Texas
A&I returns to defend the champ
ionship. Also working for the title
are teams from St. Mary’s Univer
sity, Tarleton State, Texas Tech,
UT-Arlington and UT-Austin.
The Fish have never won the fall
meet. Classes of ’76 and ’77 teams
placed second. The Houston meet,
not a part of the regular spring com
petition schedule, serves as a test
ing ground for the Aggie crew.
