    Bookstore profits
$50,000 allocated
By MARY RUSSO
Staff Writer
Distribution of the $50,000 in
bookstore profits was approved
early this week by the President’s
Office.
The money was allocated by the
Student Organizations Board (SOB)
by looking at this year’s requests,
last year’s allocations and the sub
jective determination of eight or
ganizational council advisers, coun
seled by their students.
Several organizations which rep
resent A&M as a whole (Aggie band,
debate team. Singing Cadets) and
which cannot charge enough dues to
support their activities were ad
ministratively funded, Carolyn
Adair, SOB chairman and student
organization’s director, said. Vice-
president John Koldus, his assistant
Howard Perry and Adair decided
which organizations and how much
they would receive.
The members of the SOB, whose
other duty is recognition of campus
organizations, are: Col. T. Parsons,
Corps adviser; Dennis Corrington,
intercollegiate club sport adviser;
★★★★★
Ron Blatchley, recreational club
sport adviser; Dr. Charles McCan-
dles, academic honoraries adviser;
Charles Hornstein, international
club adviser; Karen Switzer,
hometown club adviser; Warren
Faulkner, general adviser; Tobie
Rives, service and honorary club
adviser; and student members.
Curt Marsh, Jeff Dunn and Barry
Brooks.
The money was first split among
categories. The advisers took the
money to the student representa
tives on their councils where it was
further divided. The total requested
was $160,000.
The SOB was much quicker in
allotting the money than last year’s
Bookstore Allocation Committee.
The money wasn’t available until
spring last year.
To enable the profits to be ready
for the organizations in September,
rather than November, the SOB
will allocate the money in the
spring.
Request forms will be available
March 24, with a month allowed to
draw up a budget and turn in the
forms.
