‘Don Juan” is the rarely pre
sented third act of Shaw’s monu
mental work “Man and Superman.”
It was first produced as a play in
1907.
Shaw uses Don Juan as a device to
satirize post Victorian England and
the future. Although the work was
completed over 70 years ago, Shaw
foretold and foresaw literally every
sexual and social moral problem of
the present.
This one-time event brings an
all-star cast to Bryan-College Sta
tion that has the combined experi
ence of all facets of entertainment,
from the stage to movies to televi
sion.
Montalban, who began in the
theater, has recently returned to
the stage after being in movies and
television. Montalban established
himself as a well-polished and ver
satile performer in movies and tele
vision.
The Devil, in “Don Juan”, is por
trayed by Edward Mulhare.
Mulhare starred in the Broadway
production of “My Fair Lady” as
Professor Higgins. After three years
with “My Fair Lady” he toured Rus
sia with the company. Television
then became the Irish actor’s next
field of concern. He starred in “The
Ghost and Mrs. Muir” television
series.
Myrna Loy, playing Dona Ana, is
an international award winning ac
tress. She received the Brussels
World Film Festival Prize for best
actress. Miss Loy i? also very active
in UNESCO and the American As
sociation of the United Nations.
TAMU students have a special
opportunity to buy tickets to the
program at reduced price. Students
and their dates can get tickets for
$2.50. General public tickets are
$5.50. Tickets may be obtained
from the Rudder Center box office.
‘Would like to be
a moon astronaut’
By BARBARA WEST
Staff Writer
Gen. A. R. Luedecke worked in
the military and government before
coming into the business of educa
tion.
Now the university’s executive
vice president, Luedecke, a 1932
graduate, first returned to A&M as
research coordinator in the College
of Engineering. Until that time he
spent 28 years in the Air Force, six
with the Atomic Energy Commis
sion in Washington and four as de
puty director of the Jet Propulsion
Lab at the California Institute of
Technology.
“I would like to have been an as
tronaut on the moon flights,’’
Luedecke said. “I would even have
liked to be in a position to take one
of the first trips to Mars. Of course
that s still a long way in the future. ”
It may not be as exciting as space
travel, but he has all the work any
one could want in his present posi
tion.
As part of his official duties
Luedecke is concerned with
facilities planning and construction
programs, he represents TAMU in
several university associations
which sponsor cooperative research
projects and hears reports from four
university committees. He chairs
two of the committees, the Reactor
Safety Board and the Long Range
Campus Planning Committee.
Much of Luedecke’s job involves
determining needs and priorities for
physical services for all campus
programs and translating these
needs into design, development
and construction.
