At 8 a. m. Tuesdays through Fridays the TAMU Printing Center begins pro ducing The Battalion. First, the copy is translated by key punch units into strips of tickertape. The tickertape is then fed through a computer which sets photographic images of copy and headlines onto chemically-treated paper. The computer then rolls the paper into a light-tight cylinder and the paper is processed through a photographic- developer. The copy is then pasted onto a full-sized dummy sheet which is taken to the photo, j ual aids department the page to produce a J which IS then used to chemically-treated alnl 0 sheet. A red laquer is appli^to aluminum and adds a thind exposed areas. The a lu2 sheets are attached to a cyli,4 the press. As the press rolls a" her cylinder spreads ink onto aluminum and the ink sticks J those areas covered by the quer. Another rubber cvliJ takes the ink off the aluminirj and transfers the ink to the nft print. This printing method named offset.
