Joyce said valuable farm land would be covered up and that a dam would cause economic problems to the area. On the question of a corporate income tax, Joyce opposed it say ing it would hurt Texas because we need more industry. Hardee favored the corporate tax, saying it would equalize the tax burden. Presnal said it depended on the situation, the amount of money needed and the amount of revenue it would bring. “A corporate in come tax would probably bring in $35 to $40 million but that is just a drop in the bucket in the state budget,” he said. The question of legalizing mari juana was among the audience’s questions which brought a differ ent response from each candidate. Hardee said to leave the law as it is. Presnal opposed legal ization while Joyce favors “get ting the pusher.” Hardee was the only candidate with a view of no fault insurance because Presnal said he needed to look at other states with the no-fault law and Joyce pleaded “ignorance.” Presnal and Sparkey both favored a Texas Deep Water Port to be built with state funds. Joyce stated he needed to study the subject before reaching a decision. VARSITY APARTMENTS Walking Distance From Campus. 2 bdrm. Unfurnished Apt. 100 Jersey C.S. Independent operators still have trouble getting tubular goods and many are behind their drilling schedules because of the short age, he said. EUROPE - ISRAEL - AFRICA Travel discounts year-round. The pro grams director will be respon sible for such on-going proj ects as Muster and the text book exchange. He would also oversee the coordination of such student welfare projects as the Blood Drive and Campus Chest. The information director will be in charge of statistics and research coordination and SG publications. Election Board Chairman will oversee all elections. One change in this area is that the appointment is now made by the executive director rather than the SG president. Members of other SG branches may apply for these positions as long as no conflict of interest exists, said Taylor. 1, 2 & 3 Bedrooms (Studios) 10 Floor Plans (650 to 1360 sq. ft.)
