Main SHOE FIT COMPANY Downtown Bryan 822-1239 Students (Continued from page 2) best qualified and prepared to pick up RHA business in the fall. We know that he will continue to serve the students with objec tiveness and concern. T. Getterman, president, and the rest of the exec committee We also received a letter from Mike Frank, president of Crocker Hall, and 12 other dorm presidents endorsing Tim Jordan.—Ed. ★ ★ ★ Sick Editor: As dorm residents, we’re SICK of the picking and choosing by this year’s RHA Executive Com mittee of who should be the presi dent for next year! We know that any governmental body created for the people should be respon sive to the people. WE DO NOT SUPPORT Tim Jordan for presi dent of the Residence Hall Asso ciation for next year, because if everyone took the initiative to check out his “paper list” of qual ifications like we did, then you would find little to nothing. We are supporting Greg Ma- gruder because the RHA needs NEW blood, OR it will be STAG NANT for another year. The RHA is a good governmental ideal, but it sure needs new lead ership that will be responsive to the people. Larry McRoberts Student Government Campus Projects Chairman Richard Lytle, Senator Hart-Legett ★ ★ ★ Vigorous Editor: We, the fresham assistants of the RHA, strongly endorse George Lippe for Vice-President of the RHA. After working with all the dorm presidents this year, we found George to be vigorously imaginative, enthusiastic and ca pable. As dorm president he has done much for his dorm and we feel he could do much for the RHA next year. Rick Bourque and seven other assistants ★ ★ ★ Best man Editor: The position of Vice President for Student Services is an impor tant position, and we need to take care to choose the best candidate. I and most other concerned stu dents of A&M believe Hal Brun son is the best candidate. Hal has been involved in most facets of Student Government this year and has acquired the experience and knowledge neces sary to do the job of Vice Presi dent for Student Services. He has been Vice-Chairman of the Cam pus Projects Committee this year and has done an outstanding job. This committee is concerned with all of the campus oriented proj ects of Student Government, such as the Refrigerator Leasing Pro gram, Aggie Muster and several other projects. Hal has also serv ed as Welfare Benefits Coordina tor for Student Government this year. In this position he has been responsible for helping many stu dents of A&M by being in charge of Campus Chest, which makes emergency loans and grants to students and in being in charge of the Aggie Blood Club which donates blood to students and THE BATTALION WEDNESDAY, APRIL 3, 1974 Page 3 show support for candidates former students when they need it when they are ill. By being on the Board of Trustees for Stu dent Government Radio, Hal has also served the students. As a trustee he has worked hard in laying plans for Student Govern ment Radio to switch from cable broadcast to open air broadcast. In all of his duties in Student Government Hal has warked hard to provide quality services to the students of Texas A&M, and he wishes to continue this work as Vice President of Student Serv ices. John Keith Caulfield ★ ★ ★ Best Choice Editor: As candidate for the office of vice president of RHA, I would like to state my qualifications and the reasons I feel I am the best choice for this position. I have been involved with the RHA on various committees and activities this past year, having served as president of Puryear Hall. I know the RHA and the way it functions and intend to familiarize the stu dent body with RHA. The RHA is the student’s organization and voice. I have several new ideas including an information book on RHA to be distributed in the fall which would include and evplain the power structure of the admin istration on a friendly basis with a program such as a watermelon feast where the administration does the cutting and serving. With better public relations and more open RHA meeting which I will be announcing in the Batt prior to each meeting. I can’t wait to get started. George Lippe ★ ★ ★ Back Plack Editor: We, the members of the fighting Texas Aggie Basketball Team, would like to thank the entire stu dent body for their tremendous support throughout the season, We would also like to thank the yell leaders for their support and help. A special note of thanks is extended to Ron Plackemeier for attending every Southwest Con ference Basketball game and sometimes being the only friendly face in a hostile crowd. We u^ge every Aggie to vote this Thursday April 4th for Ron Plackemeier. GET PLACK BACK! Web William, John Thornton, and 11 others on the team We also received a letter en dorsing Plackemeier from Steve Schoaps and three others. Be cause of space limitations we printed only one letter—Ed. ★ ★ ★ Jerri Ward Editor: I am writing in support of the candidacy of Jerri Ward for vice president for Rules and Regula tions. As chairman of SCON A 19, I had occasion to observe her work on the Planning Committee. In this capacity, her intelligent analysis and diligent efforts helped greatly in formulating and executing the conference. Her recognition as Outstanding Freshman of the MSC was cer tainly deserved. I am certain that the above mentioned qualities, combined with her past experience on the Rules and Regulations committee will make her an excellent choice for this position. P. Steven Kosuh ★ ★ ★ Congrats Editor: Congratulations to the Fish Drill Team upon winning the Tex as Drill Team Championship this past Saturday afternoon! Theirs was a well-deserved award. Their discipline and showmanship are a fine credit to Texas A&M Univer sity whom you represent. I per sonally am encouraged to see that men can work together to attain a goal. Seeing their outstanding performance was both heartwarm ing and thrilling; they make a lot of past Drill Team remembers the old days when they were Fish. Texas A&M is proud to know that it is being represented by such a fine group—as was shown by President Williams having car ried the beautiful huge trophy to them. Bill A. Ashworth Jr., Staff, Chemistry Department ★ ★ ★ Scapegoat Editor: Thursday night while standing outside the police station, I saw a KK, at least I think it was a KK although he wasn’t wearing a uni form, come out and grab a fel low Ag standing around in a pair of shorts. Naturally, he resisted and when he did the KK got rough and fought him until he had him in a headlock. This Ag was not ar rested, just grabbed and man handled into the station—for standing around in a pair of shorts! Because this was on the op posite side of the steps not too many people saw it, but there will be enough to confirm it, and those that didn’t see it ought to be informed of the action of a man dedicated “To Protect and Serve.” My fellow Ag may have streaked, but he wasn’t streaking then; per haps he was ripped off as a po tential streaker—I don’t know. All I know is that he has been done an injustice. I don’t know this Ag’s name, but it will pro- ably be “scapegoat” from now on.
