Miles’ event collects $4,477

“Actually, I clocked it on my
notorcycle and it was only 16%

for me,” said Rabon, sophomore
zoology major.
Rabon said that he did run a
quarter of a mile too far because
when he came to a small dirt
road that was marked as a part
of the course he didn’t believe it
and because there was a big Ger
man Shepherd in the road.
Running six miles everyday
and working out in his aerobics
class w r as part of Rabon’s train
ing program. He said he had al
ways run a lot and it helped him
get ready for the walk.
Rabon said that it was his own
idea to do it because it seemed
like a challenge. He also stated
that he had vowed never to do it
again.
“But,” he qualified, “If I knew
that someone would run with me
next year, I would do it for sure.”

The Memorial Student Center
Directorate has killed its arts
film committee for the fourth con
secutive time.
This time organized under the
auspices of the Arts Committee as
a somewhat autonomous sub-com
mittee, the group was charged
with weakness in finances and
management.
The charges were aired during
recent controversy over film se
lection and the sub-committee was
placed under Aggie Cinema last
week.
“This group has experience in
keeping books, turning in ticket
reports, selling tickets and gen
erally knowing how to manage a
film series,” said Bill Davis, MSC
president. “They also tell the staff
what’s going on.
“Under the Arts Committee, the
finances were handled by James
Puckett, committee treasurer. He
took off, leaving no one to handle
the books. After LaTonya Perrin,
committee chairman, was fired,
the books were handed to us one
week and Cliff Steinberg had the
books organized to Mr. Hal
Gaines’ satisfaction the next.
Now, the films are under Aggie
Cinema with no identity and only
referred to as a series,” said Tim
Manning, ex-sub-committee chair
man for the films.
“The members are welcomed to
become part of Aggie Cinema if
they’d like,” said Tony Bonnett,
Aggie Cinema chairman. “We’re
trying not to step on anyone’s
toes. We will continue the series
out as much as finances will al
low.”
AGGIE CINEMA already has 75
members; Arts Film Series had
five.
“The estimated debt of the film
series is about $617,” said Pat
Donohoe, Aggie Cinema treasur
er. “The films are not covering
their costs in ticket sales. When
you take into account the film
rental, the advertisement and the
cost of theater rental, the sum
is considerable.”
“When the series was turned
over to Aggie Cinema, we were
not that much in the hole,” said
Manning. “The poor publicity out
on one of the most expensive films
of the year, “Devils,” really caus
ed a loss of money. I’m glad it’s
Aggie Cinema’s money that is
being lost and not mine.”
Currently there is one other
MSC activity which is acknow
ledged in the red, that is the
Dance Committee.
“This group came in at the be
ginning of the year and warned
the Council, (the governing body
of the MSC) that they would lose
money on their endeavor. They
are currently some $350 in the
red, but the upcoming dance at
Lakeview Friday, should cover
that debt,” said Davis.
“TOWN HALL finances can’t
really be discussed until the end of

every 30 minutes to enable the
students to get a taste of the con
tenders’ personalities and views.
Group 1 consists of the presi

nance candidates. The group will
speak at Sbisa from 5 to 5:30, at
the Commons from 5:30 to 6 and
at Duncan from 6:45 to 7:30.

With this in mind there could

tions vice-presidencies. These will

gram is a joint venture of Politi
cal Forum and the Student Gov
ernment Election Board.
