He told the Houston Board of Realtors Tuesday that Texas is likely to adopt a system known as the Oregon Plan, which permits motorists to get gasoline on alter nate days based on odd and even license plates. Thorne said rationing may be the only way to keep long lines from forming at service stations. “The even-odd system is just a way to get rid of the lines,” he said. “It probably won’t be needed here quite as soon as oth er states.” Campus Briefs Graduate students can apply for two positions on the Judicial Board. Randy Ross said applications can be picked up in the Student Government Office on the second Judicial positions floor of the MSC. Any graduate student with an overall GPR of 2.25 can apply. Interviews will be conducted to select the two new members. Fil ing closes Monday at noon. Tax information Income tax information booths, located in the MSC across from the bookstore are open from 9-11 on Tuesday and Thursday morn ings until Feb. 28. The Accounting Society of TA- MU is sponsoring and staffing the booths. Unsold books The last chance for students to pick up unsold books from the Student Government Book Exchange will be Feb. 14 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Stu dent Programs Office. All students that deposited textbooks are requested to pick them up. The exchange will dis pose with all books that are not picked up. He also said Shell favors fed eral control on the price of crude oil. “The oil companies can’t de cide how gasoline, heating oil and other fuel should be distributed,” Thorne said. “Only the govern ment can determine the proper al location for transportation, indus try and other purposes. We feel it’s best to preserve jobs even at the expense of public inconveni ence.” ‘Aggie Mother’ award to go to top parents Texas A&M University’s Stu dent Government has moved to change the traditional Aggie Mother of the Year award to in clude fathers. The award, sponsored by the Student Government at TAMU, has traditionally been reserved only for mothers, according to Larry McRoberts, Student Gov ernment spokesman. “In starting a new tradition at Texas A&M,” McRoberts noted, “we have elected to rename the awafd for Aggie Parent or Par ents of the Year.” The traditional award recog nizes Aggie parents for outstand ing support to sons and daugh ters enrolled at Texas A&M. The award is presented each year on TAMU’s traditional Parents Day, held this year on April 20. The award consists of an en graved plaque, and the honored parent or parents will make ap pearances at several university and Former Students functions throughout the year, according to McRoberts. He noted that nominations for the award must come from a son or daughter currently enrolled at TAMU. Deadline for receipt of nominations is April 1.
