' left »• 1 full-1 lied r A&M’s College of Veterinary Medicine has added ten new fac ulty members to its staff for the :oming year. Heading the list of new ap- jointments is Dr. Alvin A. Price, former dean of the college, who the position to return to full-time teaching. He will be a irofessor of veterinary physiol ogy and pharmacology. Returning to the faculty roster ire Drs. M. R. Herron, M. A. Her S Ten Faculty Members Added to College of Yet Medicine ron, and H. W. Whitford. Dr. M. R. (Mike) Herron returns as as sociate professor of veterinary medicine and surgery after a year at Purdue University for graduate work. His wife, Dr. Mary A. Herron, will be assistant professor of veterinary anatomy. She also received her DVM de gree at Purdue. Dr. Whitford will be an instruc tor in veterinary microbiology after having served as a gradu ate assistant in that same de partment for a year. He is com pleting work on his Ph.D. degree. Dr. Charles B. Quick has been appointed research associate in the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery. He receiv ed the DVM degree from A&M Aug. 3. Dr. Charles M. Saveli has been named Resident in the Small Ani mal Clinic at the college. He is a 1973 graduate of the Oklahoma State University College of Vet erinary Medicine. Dr. James M. (Mike) Heitmann will be an instructor in the De partment of Veterinary Medicine. He captained the 1969-70 Aggie basketball team which finished second in Southwest Conference play. Dr. John McGrath has been named assistant professor of vet erinary pathology. McGrath was graduated from University Col lege, Dublin, and recently receiv ed his Ph.D. from the University of Georgia. He was a lecturer in the Department of Veterinary Physiology and Biochemistry at the Irish school before coming to this country. He is a member of the Royal College of Veteri nary Surgeons in London. Two new faculty members in the Department of Veterinary Physiology and Phamacology in-, elude Drs. Lelve G. Gayle, re search associate, and Sandee M. Hartsfield, assistant professor. Dr. Gayle was a distinguished student with listing in Who’s Who in American Universities during his undergraduate stay at A&M. He was an officer in the Air Force and practiced privately in Richardson before returning to A&M. He completed a two- year residency program at Mi chigan State University where he received the M.S. degree in July. The former distinguished stu dent is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Hartsfield of Bryan. Bulletin Board The Student “Y” Association will hold a general “Y” steakfry, Sept. 18. The steakfry will be held in Hensel Park, Areas 1&2, be ginning at 6:30 p.m. Those who wish to purchase tickets ($1) should come by the “Y” Office, Room 216 of the Me morial Student Center before noon Thursday. Cabinet aides will be announced at the steakfry from those fresh man who are being interviewed this week. Pictures and films tak en at "Fish” Camp will be shown following the meal. WEDNESDAY Sports Car Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the Mimosa Room of the old College Station City Hall. A report will be given on the Zachry Engineering Center to Texas World Speedway Rally. All interested are welcome. Trap and Skeet Club will meet in the Room 308, of the Tower of Continuing Education at 7:30 p.m. This will be an organizational meeting. New members are wel come. Association of General Con tractors will meet at 7:30 in the Architecture Auditorium. San Angelo-West Texas Home town Club will meet in Room 229 of the MSC at 7 p.m. Membership cards will be passed out. THURSDAY Eagle Pass Hometown Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. in Lounge B of the MSC. MSC Arts Committee will hold a general meeting in the Student Programs Office at 7:30 p.m. All students interested in joining one of the four sub-committees are welcome. The sub-committees are: the visual, musical, literary and film series art committees. Association of Students from Mexico will meet at 7 p.m. in the Casa Del Sol Apartments Lounge. This will be a welcoming party for new students. All Mexican students are invited. Deadline for filing to run for three vacant living-area seats on the Student Senate is 5 p.m. The Henderson-Fowler, Keath- ley-Hughes living-areas and Dunn Hall must elect senators and only sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students are eligible to run. Applications are being accepted in the Student Government office. UT Cuts Back Heat, Cooling To Save Power AUSTIN <-#*)—The University of Texas will cut off many lights, including on the landmark Tower building, and also some cooling and heating units over the week end and on holidays to save en ergy, school offiicals said Tues day. Light levels will be reduced in classrooms and offices, as well as on some streets and parking areas. A special schedule will be work ed out with university police to keep a close check on women’s dormitories, officials said.
