A recreation outing of the Memorial Student Center, the jaunt will follow the same route (of a mid-July trip. Organizer Doug Ridge said an extra ten river miles has been added to the August trip. Students, faculty and staff par ticipated in the popular earlier trip. Ridge expects many of the canoeists to repeat. They will launch at San Marcos City Park at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug 18. Crews that do not wish to camp overnight will pull out at Martindale. The group will float on past Staples this trip and conclude the outing at Fen tress on Sunday. A shuttle service has been ar ranged to return canoes and pad- dlers to San Marcos. “The new portion of the San Marcos River we’ll cover this time is more challenging,” Ridge com mented. “It has several hairpin turns, trees hanging close over the water and a number of small rapids that should prove inter esting.” Information, costs, direction sheets and maps are available at the Student Program Office in the MSC.
