A&M’s Thermodynamics Re search Center, a division of the Chemistry Department, has been awarded a $100,000 research grant extension by the National Bureau of Standards. The funded project, adminis tered by the Texas A&M Re search Foundation, is titled “Se lected Values of Properties of Chemical Compounds.” The proj ect, according to co-principal in vestigator Dr. Randolph C. Wil- hoit, consists primarily of devel oping uniform methods of cor relating scientific data and fit ting that data to various types of theoretical models. “The National Bureau of Standards,” Dr. Wilhoit ex plained, “supports several data and evaluation centers through out the country with funding from its Office of Standard Ref erence Data. We are operating as one of those centers. “We publish standardized data in supplementary volumes of the Journal of Physical and Chemical Reference Data, our first article appearing recently on thermo dynamic alcohols.” Dr. Wilhoit, an associate pro fessor of chemistry and associ ate director of the project, is joined by Dr. Bruno Zwolinski, director of the Thermodynamics Research Center, in heading the project. The grant extension compliments last year’s $100,000 initial funding. Similar projects, Dr. Wilhoit noted, have been operating con tinuously at A&M since 1964. Constitution Proposals Suggested All seven sub-committees of the Texas Constitution Revision Commission reported their tenta tive recommendations at a three- day meeting near here last week end.
