Eight Tex as residents are funded under the second-year TEA grant, with eight out-of-state participants funded earlier by the U. S. Office of Education. Dr. Dale Catcher directs the Technical Assistance Programs. The TEA funds provide the staff ■nd operation of office programs, including consulting and advisory services to public schools, Man power Skill Centers and Junior- senior colleges. During the first year of fund ing hi 1971-72, the office con ducted a general surrey of eom- munity college vocational-techni- eal teachers in Texas. The study determined the educational back ground and profeaskmal experi ence needed to provide profes sional teaching. TEA also provided staff and operation money to the Adult Education Programs Office head- ad by Dr. Don F. Seaman. The office provide# assistance to adult education teachers, offers a va riety of technical programs and aaaista with planning and imple mentation of local adult educa tion studies in public schools. Dr. Clark said the first year funding for in aervice training to academic teachers working with vocational students is an agree ment between TAMU and Educa- t i o n Professions Development Consortium C serving the Hous- ton-Benumont-CoUege Station geographical area. Included are three Regional Education Service Centers, 168 school districts and six colleges. One hundred teachers will he trained as academic teachers working under the Coordinated Vocational Academic Education (CVAE) Program. e Dr. Clark said the idea Is to prspare the academic course toucher to work and plan studies aimed specifically at the voca tional-technical student. Twenty school districts will de velop CVAE programs, and test models will be developed.
