The survey, consisting of a simple urine test of parents of retarded children, is being con ducted by Dr. Hotger Hansen, Epidemiology Research, Colum bia University, New York. Dr. Hansen reported there is some evidence that protein im balances of the blood during pregnancy, without affecting the mother, may be harmful to the mental development of her child. This survey has to reach a large number of parents of retarded children, whether the retarded child has died or is still living, or if only one parent Is available for the test. During the past three years over 8,000 urine specimens have been tested. Parents are mailed pieces of Alter paper that are returned after being dipped In urine samples. Most urine tests will show normal results. Any irregular findings w i 11 be for warded to the participant. The Astros'will tangle in three games with Manager Walter Al ston’s Dodgers — at 7:80 Thurs day and Friday nights, July 87 and 28, and at an unusual start ing time of 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 89. The Astros then will play three games with the Padres -> a dou- Mehesder, beginning et 1:80 on Sunday, July 80, and a single game on Monday night July 81, at 7:80. Then the Astros will have a big two-game series with the front- running Reds, at 7:80 Tuesday and Wednesday nights, Aug. 1 and 2. To celebrate Louisiana Week end, mayor* from more than 60 Louisiana communities have been invited to the Astrodome as guests of the Astros. The famed Dukes of Dixieland will perform at 6:80 p.m. on Friday prior to the Astros-Dodgers game, and then they'll perform again on Saturday night after the game which will begin at 8. To complete the weekend, the Astros will play their only dou bleheader of the season in the Astrodome, against Manager Don Zimmer’s Padres. Also on Friday, July 28, there will be a special baseball game at 8 pjn. between "CoHegeviHe,” winners of the Birmingham Po lice Athletic Teams champion ship, and the Bellaire High School freshmen, coached by Ray Knoblauch. Birmingham Mayor George G. Seibeis, Jr, and hundreds of citi zens from the Alabama commun ity are financing the trip for some 20 youngsters to make this trip to play In the Astrodome. They’ll also visit Astroworld be fore returning home on Satur day. Last year the Birmingham PAT sponsored a trip to New York where the Collegeville team played in Yankee Stadium. In 1970, they played a good will game at Atlanta Stadium. Birm ingham Police Sgt. Bobby Hayes coordinator of the PAT program, said that such community proj ects as the PAT trips helped Birmingham become an “All America City” last year.
