Page 8 College Station, Texas Wednesday, July 12, 1972 THE BAIT* Two veterinarians honored for teaching and research The Texas Veterinary Medical Association has honored two A&M faculty members for dedi cation to teaching and research. Honored during the College of Veterinary Medicine Honors Con vocation Friday night were Dr. Richard M. Robinson, who re ceived the award for research, and Dr. Larry D. Claborn, recipi ent of the TVMA teaching award. Both received cash awards and plaques. Dr. Claborn, associate profes sor of veterinary physiology and pharmacology, is a native of Smith County. He was valedic torian at Troup High School and earned a B.S. degree from Abilene Christian College before coming to A&M to earn the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. He also holds a master’s degree from Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Claborn served as a captain in the Air Force Veterinary Serv ice. He conducted research at the Southwest Research Foundation in San Antonio and was a post doctoral fellow at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He joined the veterinary college here in 1967. Dr. Claborn serves as a coun selor to the pre-veterinary stu dents and is a member of several student-faculty relations commit tees. His memberships include the AVMA, TVMA, American Society of Veterinary Physiologists and Pharmacologists and the Ameri can Association of Laboratory Animal Science. Dr. Robinson is associate pro fessor of veterinary pathology. He is a 1962 DVM graduate of A&M and joined the faculty as an in structor immediately after gradu ation. He is head of the Wildlife Dis eases Laboratory. Earlier studies were at Palomar Junior College in San Marcos, Calif.; Arizona State, where he received a B.S. degree, and the University of Texas at Austin. He holds a M.S. in veterinary pa thology from TAMU. In 1965, he received the Wild life Conservation Award from the Sportsman’s Club of Texas. His research experience includes work at the Poisonous Animals Re search Laboratory at Tempe, Ari zona, and technical work for A&M’s Oceanography and Mete orology Department.
