Richard (Buck) Weirus, execu tive director of the 55,000-member association, accepted the $4,000 cash award and “Mobius Strip” trophy at the American Alumni Council National Conference held this week in St. Louis, Mo. It marked the second time TAMU’s former student group has won the U. S. Steel-sponsored Alumni Giving Incentive Award, and is the fourth national honor won by the association. Weirus pointed out the associ ation was the first recipient when the award began in 1959. Other national AAC honors are the Alumni Service Award in 1963 and the Alumni Adminis trative Award presented in 1966. The A&M former students were cited for the 1970 sustained giving program which included using an alumni directory cam paign. Each former student was asked to update his former student record and told contributors to the Annual Giving Fund would get copies of the new directory. Response to the program was 57.5 per cent. Accompanying Weirus to St. Louis were association staff members Bob Walker, Jerry Cooper and Harry Green, and 1972 association president Bob Latimer of Dallas.
