Page 4 College Station, Texas Wednesday, May 31, 1972 THE BATTALIOi Alabama’s Johnny Musso to play in Lubbock gamtf^ LUBBOCK—J o h n n y Musso, Alabama’s prize running back, announced Thursday that he will play in the Coaches All-America Football Game scheduled in Tex as Tech’s Jones Stadium June 24. Musso heads a list of 20 new players signing for the all-star tilt. He will be joined by team mate David Bailey, an offensive end for Alabama’s Crimson Tide. Musso and Bailey will be per forming for the East team of Coach Bear Bryant. Musso, who compiled a career rushing total of 2,741 yards, was a third-round draft choice of the Chicago Bears. Known as the “Italian Stallion,” Musso also caught passes for 495 yards and scored 232 points during his ca reer at Alabama. Captain of the Crimson Tide in 1971, Musso was named to a first-team berth on the All- America team selected by the Football Writers of America. Also signing with Bryant’s East team were Joe Gilliam, quarterback, Tennessee State; Ray Easterling, defensive back, Richmond; Bill Armstrong, de fensive back, Delaware; Eric Patton, linebacker, and Mike Wright appointed to head Aggies’ recruiting, PR A&M head football coach and athletic director Emory Bellard has announced the appointment of Bob Wright as director of re cruiting and public relations for the athletic department effective June 1. Wright, who served with Bel lard on the Board of Directors of the Texas High School Coaches Association, comes to A&M from a position with I&M Athletic Supplies. The 45-year old Wright is a native of Ballinger. Following a year of military service, Wright played football at Howard Payne College in Brownwood and was graduated from there in 1949. He began his coaching career as an assistant at Olney for two years and at Brownwood for five years. In 1956 he returned to Howard Payne as line coach and head of the Physical Education Department. In 1960, Wright went to Ballinger as head coach for five years and then was head coach at Cleburne for three years. In 1968 he was named Assistant Executive Vice Presi dent of the THSCA.
