Rollie White Coli seum. A lack of height and a great deal of speed and ball handling make the new offense a necessity for A&M, but making the change may take time for the usually conservative team. Two seniors, six juniors, includ ing two junior college transfers, and four sophomores make up Metcalf’s 1971-72 team, picked in most polls to finish last in the Shelby Metcalf Walding s Texaco Service Center Provides You With One Stop Auto Care. • The World’s Most Popular Gasoline, Texaco • Auto Repair You Can Trust. 23 Yrs. Others expected to see action are 6-4 senior Bobby Threadgill, 6-1 junior Charlie Jenkins, 6-5 junior college transfer Brad Pauley, and sophomores Randy Knowles (6-6), Bobby McKey (5-11), Joe Arciniega (6-3) and Mark Stewart (6-5). “We have a spirited team that likes to compete,” Metcalf said. “They have a lot of desire, and they’ve worked real hard getting ready for this season.” Last year the Aggies were 9-17, but Overhouse was named South west Conference Sophomore of the Year. He averaged 15.9 points and 9.9 rebounds per game during conference play. Texas Wesleyan, 1-2 on the season, has lost to Tarleton State 62-60 and Dallas Baptist 121-96. They defeated Southeast Okla homa 65-59. Coached by A1 Peters, starters for the Rams will be 5-10 Tom Risher, 6-3 Phil McNelly, 6-3 Cur tis Robinson, 6-4 Randy Blevins and 6-9 John Agan. With the new style of play, A&M will need to hit a high per centage of shots and be strong on the boards to win. This brand of ball makes the game more interesting to the fans, so it should be an enjoyable season.
