Campus briefs Mam’selle tryouts to be held Tryouts for Mam’selles, the girls who model at the Host and Fashion style shows, will be held Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. in Room 3A of the Memorial Stu dent Center. Applicants will be judged on their poise and personal appear ance. They will also be interview ed to determine if they can be trained in the proper use of make up and clothes. Both married and single women will be accepted. No previous training is required. Twenty-five girls and ten al ternates will be selected. The Fall Style Show will be held Oct. 27. A&M major participant at statistical meeting A&M was a major participant in the joint statistical meetings of the American Statistical As sociation, Biometric Society and Institute of Mathematical Statis tics. The session just concluded at Colorado State University. Faculty members of A&M’s In stitute of Statistics presented three invited papers and three contributed papers. Dr. H. O. Hartley, institute director, said Stanford University was the only institution in the nation presenting more papers. A&M faculty presenting papers were Drs. C. E. Gates, R. R. Hocking, J. H. Matis, L. J. Ring er, W. B. Smith and Hartley. ★ ★ ★ Smith to instruct at management seminar Texas Firemen’s Training School Chief Instructor Henry D. Smith will be one of four instruc tors this weekend at a manage ment seminar for fire chiefs from throughout the world. Smith and three Engineering Extension Service fire training instructors will attend meetings at the International Association of Fire Chiefs’ Conference and International Fire Service Train ing Association Conferences in St. Louis, Mo. The management seminar, scheduled Friday through Sunday, will have the A&M staff member teaching two courses, “Nature of Management Techniques” and “Organization, Planning and Con trolling Management Functions.” ★ ★ ★ Brazos A& M Club meets Wednesday The Brazos County A&M Club begins 1971-72 meetings Wednes- daj with a look at the A&M campus through the eyes of Bob Rucker. President Larry Locke said the Wednesday meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. in Wyatt’s Cafeteria. Brazos Aggies and their wives, both regulars and prospective members are invited, Locke said. Rucker, university landscape architect, will present a slide show on the A&M physical plant and discuss “The Changing Face of Texas A&M.” ★ ★ ★ Bendele joins staff of Vet Med College Dr. Raymond A. Bendele Jr., veterinarian specializing in wild life and fish diseases, has joined A&M’s College of Veterinary Medicine faculty. Dean Alvin A. Price announced Dr. Bendele has been assigned as instructor of veterinary pa thology. A native of Castroville, Texas, Dr. Bendele received a B.S. de gree in 1968 from A&M and the D.V.M. degree here in 1969. He was a Distinguished Student at A&M. During the past two years he has been a pathology trainee in the college, supported by tticl tional Institute of General M cal Sciences, National Instfel of Health.
