The 10-foot Christmas tree signifies uppermost part of the structure has been completed. John H. Merchant, construction supervisor for the center, said the building is 65 per cent complete and should be ready for classes in early September. W. S. Bellows Construction Co. of Houston is general contractor for the building. Construction of ficially started on July 28, 1969, “Weather is not much of a fac- for completion by Sept. 1, 1971. any m o r e,” Merchant said. “Strikes and equipment delivery delays should be the only prob lems in getting the building ready on schedule.” The building has a total gross of 324,000 square feet, with 373 rooms and a nuclear reactor. Moore, head of the College of Veterinary Medi cine Virus Research Laboratory, is project director.
