This includes ex-Graduate Student Council President Mickey Land, full time faculty member and full time student, who re signed at the council’s request last week. The council also rejected an amendment proposal by Herb Gersbach, business Administra tion, to permit faculty members who are taking one hour or more of graduate work to serve on the Graduate Student Council if elect ed by their colleges. “I don’t feel I should go to these meetings any longer,” Gers- bach said after the meeting ad journed. “We voted today to ex clude faculty members next fall. I think that’s pretty hypocritical.” Gersbach said he is a full time faculty member. President Larry McGill urged Gersbach to con tinue attending the meetings. By VICTOR MOORE Battalion Sports Writer Thursday in Austin’s Memorial Stadium, the Texas Aggies will close out their season against the undefeated, untied, number-one ranked football team Texas, win ners of their last 28 games over a period of three years. The Longhorns have played some really tough football games to climb to their high rating in the press standings. Many in juries to key personnel have hurt, but not slowed the ’Horns. Cot ton Speyrer led the barrage of injuries, when he broke his left arm against Oklahoma. Since that time, many have followed him to the side lines. Some of them are Linebacker Scott Hen derson, defensive back Alan Low ry, defensive end Dave Arledge, back-up tight end Tommy Wood ard, and fullback Steve Worster. The list goes on and on. Most of the injuries are minor and all the regulars are expected to be ready against the Aggies. Not much can be said in describ ing the Texas Wishbone-T of fense except ouch when it hits you. So many different plays are run from the same set, that the defense has just got to gamble what is going to happen and be there. The key to the offense is the quarterback’s thinking and the blocking and running of the backs. Texas has been fortu nate to have quarterback Eddie Phillips, the back up man to James Street, for he handles the mechanics and execution of the ball as good as Street did. Phase two of the offense is in the running backs. They are left halfback Jim Bertelsen, right halfback Billy Dale, and fullback Steve Worster, an all-American and Heisman Trophy candidate. Worster leads the conference in yardage per carry, but dropped to second in rushing, 95 yards per game, after gaining 28 yards on five carries before having to leave the game against TCU. Be fore the TCU game Worster led the conference in per game rush ing with 109 yards. In conference play the Long horns have averaged 40 points per game. The only way that has been figured out to stop the pow erful offense was done by UCLA and Baylor. Both teams ignored the passing game and practically played man on man. They virtu ally had an eight man line, thus causing concern within the Long horn coaching staff. Texas won both games 21-17 against UCLA, and 21-14 against Baylor. So much has been said about the running game, that you must think that is all Texas has. If you did, you are right. It’s true that Phillips is not a bad passer or tight end Daryl Comer and split end Danny Lester are not bad receivers, but they have not been completing them in any great fashion. So Texas relies on the ball control characteristic of the ground attack, which has gained over 340 yards per game. They have gone over 400 yards several times and once reached the 500 level on the ground. The offensive line makes the offense click. They move out on the snap of the ball very quickly and seem almost to catch the defenders unaware. They are led by all-American tackle Bobby Wnensch, senior guard Mike Dean, an excellent blocker, senior guard Bobby Mitchell, who has filled the shoes of graduated all- American Bob McKay very well, senior center Jim Achilles and sophomore tackle Jerry Sisemore. The defense is big, strong, and mean. They have allowed only 104 points to be chalked up against them. They do have their troubles though, the air attack. The way to move on Texas is in the air as proven by Dennis Dum- mitt of UCLA and Chuck Hixson of SMU. Each threw over 340 yards against Texas. They pro vided good defensive coverage on the receivers, but played a little loose, thus making it easy to catch the pass. Si Southall of Baylor found this out too, as he hit Derek Davis for a 73 yard pass play. Though their secondary has been riddled with injuries new blood in sophomores Mike Bayer and Gary Keithley have given the defense a better look. Last week against TCU Bayer intercepted a pass and went 80 yards for a touchdown, and the defense twice held the Frogs inside the ten. Playoff game here Saturday Spring Branch of Houston and Corsicana will tangle in a Class AAAA bi-district football battle at Kyle field Saturday night. They shaved the other side with our Tripleheader 35T shaver. When they finished shaving, we had them feel their faces. 7 out of 10 said our Tripleheader shaved them as close or closer than either the platinum or chromium blade. Some of the men were surprised. But, frankly, we weren’t. Because the Norelco Tripleheader is a totally different kind of electric shaver. It has three shaving heads that float, to follow the curves of your face. Our blades are rotary. So they shave in every direction. (Because your beard grows in every direction.) And we make our shaving heads ultra-thin. So it’s possible to get a really close shave. And practically im possible to nick or cut yourself. The Tripleheader comes in a Cord and a Rechargeable **>««*».>&**&! model.
