Page 2 THE BATTALION College Station, Texas Thursday, November 5, 1970 CADET SLOUCH by Jim Earle From other campuses Libbers ‘devout hypocrites’ By JAMES R. JACKSON Most men on this campus have no doubt encountered phrases such as “male chauvinist pig” in the light of the ongoing Wom en’s Liberation movement. If cam puses could be rated on chauvin ism, I am sure A&M would be first on the libbers’ list. Even Maggies, so-called Liberators or not, would attest to this. Personally, I am tired of being beat over the head with the “chauvinist pig” phrase, and I am sure most Aggies are. I am convinced that any female who thinks or proclaims she is a “liberator” is a devout hypocrite. Consider the evidence. Have you ever met an honest to good ness liberator? I mean the fact is, all women want to be man handled. Have you met one on this campus who doesn’t? Any where? Brother, you never will. This myth was sufficiently ex posed in an article in the Daily Evergreen at the University of Washington recently. The author, Model Cities seminar set Friday at 1:30 “When I told my instructors my ride was leavin’ early, I thought you had a car—didn’t you know that I don’t have a car either?” Bulletin Board TONIGHT Brazoria County Hometown Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. in room 304 of the Physics Building. Preston Smith has re fused to speak at the University of Houston, where he was asked back after refusing to speak to a large crowd of hecklers Oct. 8. In a poll conducted by The Daily Couger 50 per cent of the stu dents felt Smith’s right of free speech was violated. Thomas Bell, Young Democrats vice president, said, “I don’t think he’ll return because he came only for political reasons. When he met the confrontation, he wanted it and used it to gain support from the silent majority as a display of the radicals.” At Texas Tech, the freaks out- scored the pigs 9-5 in a baseball game there Thursday. The atmos phere was friendly and the gen eral attitude was one of infor mality. Most of the campus police had painted pictures of pigs on their shirts, and one had printed “I’m proud to be a pig.” One of the freaks had an American flag on the back of his shirt and one had a Linus shirt sporting a rather explicit phrase. ★ ★ ★ At Eastern New Mexico Uni versity a petition is circulating in an attempt to prevent Dr. Ben jamin Spock from speaking on campus. The petition reads in part, “As taxpayers we must object to using any buildings or facility paid for by the taxpayers of New Mexico for this man to present his radical beliefs to the young and impressionable of our college students.” Al Capp was specifically men tioned as being an acceptable speaker as opposed to Dr. Spock. ★ ★ ★ A University of Texas nutrition expert fed 64 laboratory rats on nothing but bread called “enrich ed” by commercial bakeries. Within 90 days, 40 of the ro dents had died of malnutrition. 2:30 3 (5) Edge of Night 15 (12) 15 (12) Olympic Boy (PBS) 6:00 3 (5) 3:00 3 (5) Corner Pyle 6:30 3 (5) 3:30 3 (5) Town Talk 15 (12) 15 (12) Kukla, Fran and Ollie (NET) 7:00 3 (5) 4:00 3 (5) Dark Shadows 15 (12) 15 (12) Folk Guitar (ETS) 7:30 15 (12) 4:30 3 (5) Bewitched 8:00 3 (5) 15 (12) What’s New (NET) 8:30 15 (12) 5:00 3 (5) General Hospital 15 (12) Misterogers’ 9:00 15 (12) Neighborhood 10:00 3 (5) (NET) 10:30 3 (5) 5:30 3 (5) CBS News 11:30 3 (5) Olympic Boy (PBS) Evening News Family Affair Campus and Com munity Today Jim Nabors French Chef (PBS) San Francisco Mix (PBS) Movie — The Shut tered Room Sation Manager’s Memo Fanfare (NET) Final News The Immortal The Detectives PALACE BraanZ-W* NOW SHOWING 1:15 - 2:53 - 4:59 - 7:05 - 9:11 Lee Marvin In ‘MONTE WALSH” tm/pm Live Entertainment With “John Roby” and “Lee & Mike” To-Nite MINI-SKIRT CONTEST SEBASTIAN’S CLUB 1313 South College J.
