    Manned spacecraft
called 4 nonesense’
WASHINGTON UP) —Two of
-President Nixon’s space advisers
declared Tuesday it would be
“absolute nonsense” for the na-
ftion to continue to finance
manned space flight.
They joined three senators—
two Democrats and one Republi
can—in calling for deletion of
$122 million in design money for
a proposed space shuttle station
from a pending appropriation
bill.
They urged revision of the na
tion’s space plans to emphasize
J unmanned, instrumented explo
ration of outer space, a step
they insisted would reap a far
greater scientific harvest.
“The manned space program,
| it seems to me, has had its day,”

first aid stations.
Also on the agenda will be
| discussion of the writing of a new
constitution. The first constitu

fewer than 500 coeds on campus.
With more than 1500 women stu

updated to keep up with the
change. Nancy Evans is chairman
of the Constitution Committee.
Coeds are invited to join this com
mittee.
University Wormen is also
active in the Women’s Recruit
ment Program sponsored jointly
with the Civilian Student Coun

“Coeds are also reminded that
Freshman Handbooks are still
available in the office of Mrs.
Patricia Self, women’s counselor,
Academic Building, Room 103,”
said Miss McCall.
Also, a suggestion box for any
opinions concerning activities of
women on campus is located in
the Student Programs Office in
the MSC.

said Dr. Thomas Gold, chairman
of the space science panel of
the President’s Science Advisory
Committee.
Dr. James A. Van Allen, dis
coverer of the Van Allen Radia
tion belts in space, added:
“I am totally unpersuaded that
men in spacecraft are important
or even useful in any way that
is commensurate with the effort
required to maintain them there.
“In fact,” Van Allen said,
“their presence degrades almost
all of the objectives in space that
I consider important. And I hold
this view despite the fact that
I am a devoted admirer of the
astronauts at the level of per
sonal courage and professional
competence.”
The two scientists commented
at a news conference held as
Senate opponents of the current
space program launched a new
effort to trim back spending for
the National Aeronautics and
Space Administration.

All proceeds of the contest go to

Van Dyck asked if the contest
was restricted to individual halls,
or if women students'would be
allowed to enter.
“Do you have any girls in your

“No, but I was thinking of a

countered.
“Gentlemen, we’re exactly 12

said as the meeting adjourned.

But don't get us wrong, because we re ALL
HEART - we just haven't lost our head! Until
this new dating approach, developed by Phase
III Dimensions, computer match programs were
based upon socio-economic facts and superfi
cial interests rather than on the participant's
desires, tendencies, attitudes, and honest self-
evaluation.
The guess work and hit-or-miss results of other
programs have been eliminated through the form
included below.
So if you're really looking for compatibility, take
advantage of this personality approach and be
come your own match-maker.
No one can find your match better than you can.
And no one but Phase III Dimensions can make
your search so much easier, more successful.
