Cagey Gene has never been known
to expound far and wide about
the players he has had on his
teams, including the 1967 South
west Conference titlist squad. It
took Stallings nearly three years
to admit in public that Edd Har
gett was anything more than
just a quality player.
To say something about Dusek,
who, incidently, has never played
a down of varsity ball and will be
a sophomore in the fall, is not
in keeping with the Stallings mo
dus operandi.
But it is no secret that this
season will feature the results of
two outstanding recruiting years
DUSEK FOR A COUPLE—Sophomore to be Brad Dusek
kes a handoff from quarterback Lex James and dives for
first down during a recent scrimmage. Dusek has been
one of the more pleasant surprises this spring.
Rockie & Co. Sets Mark
Rockie and his Friends used to be a cartoon show on
television telling about a squirrel and his many exploits with
a moose called Bullwinkle.
Well, the Texas Aggies have their own version of this
cartoon and other track teams around the country are doing
anything but laughing.
The Rockie in question is Rockie Woods, the Aggies’ ace
sprinter, and his friends are more than just some old funky
moose. They consist of 440-yard dash world record holder,
Curtis Mills, his brother Marvin, and freshman flash Donny
Rogers.
Des Moines, Iowa, was the site of this quartet’s latest
exploit, namely, a new world’s record in the 880-yard relay.
Already co-holders of the mark at 1:22.1 with San Jose
State, they blazed around the Drake Relays Tartan Track in
1:21.7 in a race marred by bad handoffs. Woods, the fastest
in the 220 in the Southwest Conference this season actually
ran the slowest leg of the four with a 21.2 but his three
friends took up the slack. Woods turned in his 21.2, Marvin
churned a 20 flat, Rogers ran a 20.9, and Curtis anchored
with a brilliant 19 flat.
The sprint relay unit composed of Scott Hendricks,
subbing for Rogers, and Rockie’s friends, the Mills brothers,
also swept the 440 event in 40 flat and Woods anchored the
440-yard shuttle relay team to a first place 56.6 clocking.
Ben Greathouse added a sixth place in the high jump with a
leap of 6-9.

Coach Gene Stallings hasn’t
started thinking about how he’ll
iivide his Texas Aggie squad for
the Maroon-White game here May
),but, no doubt, it will be a couple
jf large, evenly matched teams
that square off.
The Aggies are young, but
they’re big and strong this spring.
For example, take the offensive
lines. One that would average
222 pounds could have Joey Herr
(181) at split end, Buster Calla
way (240) at left tackle, Lenard
Millsap (220), left guard; Mike
Park (216), center; Leonard
Forey (230), right guard; Andy
Philley, (241), right tackle, and
Homer May (224), tight end.
Another, that would average
228, would have John Swedeen
(196), split end; Benny DeWitt
(237) and Mike Fields (231) at
tackles; Gary Martin (234) and
Winston Beam (251) at guards,
and Ted Smith, 224, at center.
Across the way, the Aggies can
field a couple of defensive fronts
of seven (4 linemen and 3 line
backers) that would average 216
each. One could have Dale Watts
(216) and Barb Hinnant (204) at
ends; Boice Best (228) and Van
Odom (233) at guards; Clifton
Thomas (234), Mike Lord (202)
and Kent Finley (198) at line
backers.
The other would have James
Dubcak (232) and Ralph Sacra
(217) at ends; Wayne Wheat
(229) and Tommy Deaton (198)
at guards; Bruce Best (229),
Gary McCaffrey (212) and Steve
Luebbehusen (193) at linebackers.
Those specific groups aren’t
apt to be together for the spring
game, but it does indicate the size
that the Aggies will hve.
The Aggie Club, sponsoring
organization for the Maroon-
White game, is shooting at a
minimum crowd of 10,000 for the
Saturday afternoon contest.
Tickets go on sale Monday at
the A&M athletic business office
in G. Rollie White Coliseum.
Advance ticket sales prices:
Reserved seat $2.50; A&M fac
ulty-staff reserved seat $1.50;
A&M date ticket $1.50; students
of High School age and under,
50 cents when bought with an
adult ticket.
Game day tickets will be $2.50
reserved seats and $1.50 general
admission.
A&M students will be admitted
on their activity cards.
Texas A&M’s famed Fish Drill
Team, winner of the national
championship for the third
straight year, will perform for
the fans at halftime.
The game will be the last such
contest on natural grass at Kyle
Field. Construction starts Mon-
lay, May 11, for the installation
of artificial turf.
There are two choices, people who

happening.
Constructively, there’s life insur

your beneficiaries. It’s for now, a
solid foundation to any enduring
financial structure—and at least
one sturdy bulwark against disaster.

tonight
In order to keep your contact lenses as
comfortable and convenient as they were
meant to be, you have to take care of
them. But until now you needed two or
more separate solutions to properly
prepare and maintain your contacts. Not
with Lensine. Lensine is the one lens
solution for complete contact lens care.
Cleaning your contacts with Lensine
retards the buildup of foreign deposits on
the lenses. And soaking your contacts in
Lensine overnight assures you of proper
lens hygiene. You get a free soaking case
on the bottom of every bottle of Lensine.
It has been demonstrated that improper
storage between wearings may result in
the growth of bacteria on the lenses.
This is a sure cause of eye irritation and
in some cases can endanger your vision.
Bacteria cannot grow in Lensine which is
sterile, self-sanitizing, and antiseptic.
Just a drop or two of Lensine, before you
insert your lens, coats and lubricates it
allowing the lens to float more freely in
the eye's fluids. That's because
Lensine is an "isotonic" solution,
which means that it blends with
the natural fluids of the eye.
Let your contacts be the
convenience they were
meant to be. Get
some Lensine, from the

for the Aggies and Dusek may

around to choose from. The truth
is that the 6-2, 208-pound tail
back has looked nothing short of
magnificent in Maroon and White
scrimmages and spectators would
have to either be blind or biased
to miss his talented running.
Another hluechipper, Lex
James, a soph-to-be in the fall,
has all but taken over the quar
terback reins in the Aggies’ new
Wishbone or Veer T offense and
Stallings seems to think that
the 6-0, 180-pounder can run the
attack.
“He throws the ball well and
he has quick feet,” Stallings said.
But these are but two of 10

Rice Falls To
Aggie Golfers
The Texas Aggies whipped the
Rice Owls 6-0 in their final golf
match here this weekend.
In singles, Richard Ellis de

Steve Veriato defeated Mike
Owens, 7 and 5; Duke Butler
defeated Gary Reist, 1 up; and
Tommy Gilbert defeated Bill Ross,
7 and 6.
In doubles, Ellis and Veriato
defeated Owens and Clarke 2 and

Reist and Ross, 3 and 2.

weekend.
son against Wichita State on
Kyle Field Astroturf in the fall.
Buster Callaway (6-4, 240) could
be either a starting tackle or
center while Homer May (6-3,
224) seems to have the tight end
post nailed down. Boice Best
(228) and rover Kent Finley
(198) are two who will play a
lot on defense.
In Saturday’s scrimmage on
Kyle Field, long scoring plays
seemed to be the order of the
day as the Maroons outclassed
the Whites, 60-0. Dusek broke
loose on the first play from
scrimmage for a 60-yard touch
down gallop. Steve Burks fol
lowed with a 21-yard scamper
and Hugh McElroy raced 37 yards
for another score.
James hit split end Joey Herr
with a 46-yard pass for a score
and defensive back Chris Johnson
ran 55 yards with an intercepted
pass for a score. Jimmy Shef
field score twice on runs of three
and one yars while Jerry Sher
man ran for a six-yard tally and
Dusek added another on a one-
yard plunge.
