According to Mayor Anderson, the addition of approximately 15 new employes within the next year will allow College Station to assume more fire-fighting, police, and sanitation services that A&M had previously been responsible for. “Our dependence on Texas A&M University should come to a close shortly,” Anderson said. “We have been nurtured by A&M and we are most apprecia tive. Wertheim explained tha£ Sbi- sa’s menu is founded on a five week basis. During the period certain items are served a set number of times with one item a specialty, such as the broiled steaks served in the last period. Pecan pie will replace the co conut pie that has been served, because it was noticed that the coconut pie was being thrown away. Wertheim commented that this move is on a trial basis be- Niew Veterans Club Writes Constitution All ex-military servicemen are invited to attend the meeting of a newly formed veterans club at 7:30 tonight in room 146 Physics. There were 56 members at the first meeting and membership has grown to about 200. There are about 800 veterans attending A&M. Committees were formed at the last meeting to solve problems of making a constitution, a budget and other details. cause the price of pecans makes it an expensive dessert. The board also decided to serve seconds, on a trial basis, on french fries, he said. By serving smaller portions those not eating their fries will not waste as much and those desiring more will be able to get them, he said. Wertheim also said that as soon as the hamburger patties on hand are used, a larger pattie of better quality will be served. The present patties were tried as a money saving effort, he said, but the board decided that the better quality burger patties are worth the extra expense. In the sandwich line white, whole wheat and rye breads will be served. It was further decided to discontinue, temporarily, serv ing the sesame buns since many were being taken but few eaten. Since the buns are somewhat more expensive, Wertheim said that the change to the breads will save on costs. Tea bags also will be set out, on trial, for those who desire hot tea. Wertheim said that many students have requested this, and some had even gone to the trou ble of bringing their own tea bags. Wesley Donaldson, president of the board of directors, said con siderable interest has been ex pressed in discussion of a com bined county-wide drive, in view of the university’s new policy concerning the annual fund-rais ing program on campus. The new policy, Donaldson ex plained, gives university employes the opportunity to contribute to either the Bryan or College Sta tion drive. Contributions not des ignated for either fund will be divided between the two drives in proportion to their budgets. “The board of directors would like to determine at the March 17 meeting whether or not the mem bers want this matter (combined fund) explored further,” Donald son noted. Army Aviation School Scheduled for Cadets Army ROTC cadets will be given details on advantages of an Army aviation career tonight. The orientation will include in formation about the 7l 1 ^-hour in struction program conducted for the Army and A&M by Texas Air- motive, data on aviation training with the Army at Fort Wolters or Fort Stuart, Ga., and how enter ing the program affects the in dividual’s military obligation. Lt. Col. Donald L. Johnson said junior contract cadets should make application now to partici pate in the program during the 1970-71 school year. The aviation program coordi- iator said the 7:30 p.m. meeting will be in Room 100 Chemistry. He noted that next year’s pro gram is not restricted to senior cadets. Sophomores who expect to graduate in January of the fol lowing year and seniors who will be at A&M another year can apply. Consisting Of 35 hours ground school and 36% hours flight in struction, the program enables cadets to get a head start on Army aviation training, serves to provide a predictable input into the Army specialty and reduces training costs by screening out those not suited for flying. Very simple. Be a successful insurance agent, who is, in effect, his own chairman of the board. He has his own loyal clients. He makes his own decisions concerning them. And since he is successful, who’s going to argue? Insurance counselling is a field in which income has no ceiling. It offers the opportunity to perform a highly useful service— to corporations as well as individuals.
