THE BATTALION
Relay Team Places 2nd; Mills Wins
Curtis Mills notched another
victory this past weekend before
a crowd of over 11,000 fans at
Madison Square Garden.
Mills ran a 48.3 in the 400
meter dash to win over Larry
James of Villanova who was
clocked in 48.6. Tommy Turner
of Murray State (Kentucky)
placed third in 49.1 and European
champion Jan Warner finished
fourth in 60.1.
The Aggie mile relay was de

lanova in a vicious mile relay
which saw Adelphi and the
Sports International Track club
who finished first and second dis
qualified for pushing. Villanova
was timed in 3:18.3 while the
Aggies raced the distance in
3:19.0.
Harold McMahon ran the first
quarter in 50.0 seconds and was
in third place when he handed
the baton to Curtis Mills who
ran his quarter in 48.0 but still
was second after his lap.
Marvin Mills ran a 50.0 to stay
in second place but a great
amount of shoving took place as
the final hand off was given to
Willie Blackmon and when the
smoke cleared the Aggies were
in third and never regained their
momentum.

getting an early lead and avoid

shoving late in the race.
Nelson said he felt that the
Aggies could have won the relay
had there not been the extra
curricular activities that caused
the disqualifications of the Sports
International Track Club and
Adelphi.
The Aggies have now com
pleted their indoor track season
and will open their outdoor sea
