It didn’t really resemble a bas
ketball game, but the Texas A&M
Fish bucked and battled their
way through a foul-riddled game
last night to hand the Texas
Yearlings a 73-70 defeat.
It was the first loss for the
Yearlings who entered the con
test with a 5-0 mark. It became
the fourth straight win for the
Fish, who are now 2-0 in the con
ference race.
The Fish had to overcome a
cold shooting performance and
the rough tactics of the Year
lings, who gave the Fish their
best challenge in the rebounding
department for the year. Texas
hit on 22 of 50 from the field for
44 per cent while the Fish could
manage but 22 of 65 for a meager
34 per cent.
With much of the action com
ing under the boards, the ref
erees’ whistle became a constant
sound as both teams totaled 70
free throws. The Fish hit 29 of
40 while the Yearlings converted
26 of 35. The Fish won the battle
for the rebounds with 50 to il
