Thompson was director of the program. $400Scholarships W on Scholarships totaling $1,200 have been awarded by Texas A&M University to three high school seniors participating in a National Science Foundation en gineering science program here. Winners of the four-year awards are John A. Boerner of San Antonio, Philip L. Dreike of Sunnyvale, Calif., and Elmo L. Kirkindoll of Buna, near Beau mont. Announcement of the scholar ships was made Friday by Dr. A. D. Suttle Jr., Texas A&M vice president for research, at cere monies concluding the eight-week program. A Texas A&M faculty commit tee selected the trio from a group of 30 high ability students at tending the program. The 30 participants, in turn, were selected from more than 500 students who took the nation-wide entrance examination, noted Cole man Loyd, NSF programs co ordinator at Texas A&M. Boerner, a student at Douglas MacArthur High School in San Antonio, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Boerner. Dreike attends Homestead High School in Sunnyvale. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph A. Dreike. The third scholarship recipient is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Kirkindoll. He attends Buna High School. NSF and Texas A&M jointly sponsored the summer program. The course was directed by Dr. J. George H.
