AstrodomeToHaveABusyYear
Houston’s Astrodome will be
the site of 21 football games
during the 1969 football season,
the most football activity ever
slated for the Astrodome.
The Houston Oilers will play
11 times, including four pre-sea
son games, the University of
Houston will play five games,
negro college games will total
three, and then the two post sea
son games will be the Astro-
Bluebonnet Bowl game on New
Year’s Eve and the AFL All-Star
game on January 17.
Thanksgiving Day, November
27, will feature a football day-
night doubleheader with the
Oilers meeting the San Diego
Chargers at 3:00 p.m. and Texas
Southern University battling
Prairie View A&M at 8:15 p.m.
Tickets for all 21 games may
be ordered by sending check or
money order to: Tickets, Astro
dome, Box 1691, Houston, Texas,

prices are $7 and $6 for the
Oilers games; $6 and $5 for the
University of Houston and $7 for

The indoor football season gets
under way on Saturday night,
August 2, when the Oilers meet
the Buffalo Bills at 8:00 p.m.

B-CS Businessmen Give Scholarship
The Bryan -College Station
Chamber of Commerce has pre
sented its second annual $300
scholarship to Texas A&M Uni
versity.
Lowell Jones, vice president of
the chamber’s Commercial Divi
sion, made the presentation
Thursday to Dr. John E. Pearson,
dean of the College of Business
Administration.
A similar scholarship was given
last year to the College of Agri •
culture.
Jones said the annual program
which he expects to grow numeri
cally will alphabetically rotate
each year among the university’s
various colleges.
Pearson said the scholarship
will go to an incoming outstand
ing student, or one already en
rolled in the college’s program.
The college’s Scholarship Com-
mitte will make the decision.
ALL-STAR PERFORMER
Tommy Maxwell, a former Aggie performer and now the property of the Baltimore Colts
of the National Football League, will be a participant in the College All-Star Game in
August. He will play defensive halfback.

Starts Monday
Intramural action for the sec
ond term of summer school at
Texas A&M is tabbed to begin
Monday, according to Director
Raymond L. Fletcher.
Everyone is eligible to compete
in the sports offered, which will
be softball, bowling, and golf,
with some open tournaments
scheduled in both tennis and bad
minton.
Participants may sign up in
DeWare Field House next to the
outdoor swimming pool.
In 1905 the New York Racing
Commission reported a 1904 tax
revenue of $190,256 from 10 race
tracks. Last year the New York
State tax from three tracks —
Aqueduct, Belmont and Saratoga
was $77,815,936.
