(Photo by Mike Wright) NEW YORK — World Series winners in 1969 will re ceive a guaranteed minimum of $15,000 and losers will get at least $10,000 on the basis of 32 shares for each club. Joe Cronin, American League president, and Warren Giles, National League president, an nounced the agreement by which the minimum guarantee for the World Series winners will be $484,000. That would figure to $15,000 on the basis of 32 full shares. The players of each of the two clubs losing the divisional play offs will receive a minimum of $5,000 under the new plan. The winners, of course, will go into the Series where they will be eli gible for the money. Under the new agreement the first three teams in each of the four divisions will get a share of the Series’ player pool. In 1968 the Detroit Tigers re ceived $10,936 each for beating the St. Louis Cardinals who got $7,079. The increase in the guaranteed money for the Series makes HAS 16 GAMES OF 300 ST. The winners of the Super Bowl get $15,000 each and the losers $7,600. With the 1969 expansion, each of the two major leagues now has 12 clubs divided into two six-club divisions. The two Na tional League division winners will play a best of five series to determine the loop’s representa tive in the World Series. The same format will hold true in the American League. As in the past, the World Ser ies will be a best-of-seven affair. Under the old rules of baseball, the World Series players were guaranteed a minimum of $250,- 000 from the Series to be split 60 per cent for the winners and 40 per cent for the losers. The new play will raise the guarantee to $800,000 for the two teams, $482,- 000 for the winners, $320,000 for the losers. In addition a guaranteed mini mum pool of $320,000 was creat ed for the players of the two clubs losing the two best-of-five divisional playoffs, players of other clubs down to the third place finisher in each division. The gate receipts of the World Series will continue to be allo cated substantially as in the past with 15 per cent of the balance into the player pool. Seventy per cent of the player pool goes to the two Series teams to be split on a 60-40 basis and the balance is distributed among the In addition, one half of the gate receipts from the first three of each of the divisional playoffs will go into a new play-off pool. This will be divided with 30 per cent to the winners and 20 per cent to the losers who would get a minimum of $5,000. & azor A Barbering’ and Styling Gene Verwold, Herb Fedora, Charles Stubbs, Jr. Wee Village Shopping Center 4018 Stillmeadow & 29th Phone 846-5600 BUSIER AGENCY REAL ESTATE • INSURANCE F.H.A.—Veterans and Conventional Loans ARM & HOME SAVINGS ASSOCIATION Home Office: Nevada, Mo.
