The victory was the ninth straight this season for Coach Tom Chandler’s team without a defeat. The game also completed a two game sweep by the Aggies of the Tigers. Texas Ave. Boyd Hadaway opened the ninth for the Aggies with a single and moved to second when Mike De- Niro worked pitcher Jim Johnson for a walk. Maida then came through with his game winning hit as Stan Chick, who was run ning for Hadaway, scored. MISSOURI opened the day’s scoring with a run against Aggie starter Sonny Benefield in the second. Neil Sloman walked to open the inning and moved to third on a pair of wild pitches. Bill Friedricks grounded out as Sloman scored. The Aggies tied the game in the third on a single and stolen base by Bob Arnold and a run producing single by Dave Elmen- dorf. BENEFIELD, who was a start er on the Southwest Conference champion basketball team, held Missouri to one hit in his four innings of work but a control problem kept him in trouble. Control led to the Tigers’ sec ond run of the day in the fourth. Sloman worked Benefield for an other free pass and moved to third on a single by Bill Boyd. He scored on another grounder by Friedricks. THE AGGIES tied the game with a run in the fifth and moved ahead with a tally in the sixth. Pitcher Chris Sans opened the fifth for A&M and was hit by a pitch. Bob Long then got on on a fielders choice and promptly stole second and third. Long scored on a wild pitch. Elmendorf tripled and scored for the Aggies in the seventh. A&M fought back to tie the score once again in the eighth on singles by Sans and Arnold and a wild pitch. Missouri had taken the lead with a three run outburst in the seventh. Fredricks opened the rally with a walk and Steve Patchin followed with a single. Coach Chandler brought Charles Kelley in as relief. Kelley retired the first two men he faced before an error by shortstop Jim Raley loaded the bases. All three runs scored on a single by Del Blunk and an error by rightfielder Arnold. HERBIE WATTS, who got credit for the win, then came on to get the third out. With the score tied 5-5, Missouri threatened against Watts in the ninth on a walk to Patchin and a sacrifice by Dave Moore. Watts struck out Mike Griffin and Kurt Boenker to end the threat. The Aggies carry their 3-0 SWC mark to Fort Worth Friday to play Texas Christian in a doubleheader. The final game of the series will be played Saturday afternoon. Snook’s See Tops Class B All-State By The Associated Press Frankie See, who led Snook to the state championship, and Spur- ger’s LeWayne Willis, with a 33.2 scoring average, pace the Texas Sportswriters’ Association Class B All-State basketball team. See, a 6-foot-lV2 senior, aver aged almost 20 points per game and was the leading rebounder in Snook’s drive to the state title. Willis, a 6-2 junior, had a high game of 51 points during the past seaison.
