(A*)—Texas Chris tian overcame a 12-point halftime deficit to defeat the Baylor Bears 70-66 Tuesday night and dash the Bears’ Southwest Conference bas ketball championship hopes. The Homed Frog attack was led by the offensive punch of Bill Swanson, who scored 16 of his 19 points in the final period, and TCU’s famed all-court press. Baylor committed 13 costly er rors as a result of the TCU press. Baylor is now 8-4 in SWC play and TCU is 4-8. Tom Swift and Swanson were TCU’s top scorers with 19 each and James Cash added 14. Baylor was led by Tommy Bowman’s 20 points. Larry Gate- wood had 18, Richard Scallom 14 and Randy Thompson 10. Bowman was the game’s lead ing rebounder with 21. However, TCU outrebounded the Bears 45-43. Baylor outshot TCU from the field with 49 per cent on 23 of 47 to 35 per cent on 27 of 77. The real difference in the game was the accuracy of the Aggies at the free throw line, a sore spot for most of the season. They hit 21 of 25 as the shorter Hogs were forced to foul more when they fell behind. The leading scorer for the Razorbacks was Cone, who finished with 13 and for one of the rare times this season, the opposition led the Ags in turn overs, 16 to 14.
