students designated by the Wood-
row Wilson National Fellowship
Foundation as the best future
college teachers on the continent.
They are designate Roderick D.
Stonedale of Houston and Nor
man D. Gabitzsch of Brownsville
who received honorable mention.
Both students are physics majors.
The students, representing 349
colleges, were finalists in compe
tition from which 11,704 candi
dates were nominated.
A list of the designates and
honorable mention recipients has
been sent to all graduate school
deans in the U. S. and Canada
with the recommendation that the
graduate schools make fellowship
awards to the students.
This year’s selection represent
ed the second year of the desig
nation program which is sup
ported by the Ford Foundation.
Prior to 1968 the Woodrow Wil
son Foundation, with Ford Foun
dation funds, annually made di
rect financial awards to 1,000
students to support their first
year of graduate study.

in the annual Industrial Arts
Teacher Conference.
