BA College Conducts Fourth Forum d. C. Inaugural
A forum of national leaders is
entering its fourth year of idea
exchange among business, indus
try, education and government.
Supported by more than 160
corporations, businesses, banks
and associations throughout the
U. S., the President’s Forum en
ables top management to gain
new insight into current and
future problems.
GOV. JOHN CONNALLY en
dorses the forum, originated by
A&M in 1966. The fourth annual
meeting is scheduled in San An
tonio next spring.
A&M’s College of Business Ad
ministration conducts the forum
of top echelon management.
“It is conducted in keeping with
the whole spirit of Texas A&M,
that of service to the state,” ob
served Business Administration
Dean John E. Pearson. “The
forum goes to participants in the
state’s metropolitan areas.”
ANNUALLY convened on a
rotating basis in San Antonio,
Houston and Dallas, the forum
attracts business and industry
presidents from across the nation,
pointed out W. E. Eckles, assist
ant dean and executive develop
ment director.
“Presentations by highly suc
cessful business leaders and dis
cussions center on topics vital to
the operation of our national
economy,” the management pro-

Memorial Student Center offi
cials are seeking local residents to
host one or more visiting foreign
students for five days later this
month.
MSC Director Wayne Stark
said 12 Southeast Asian and Pa

here Jan. 27 as part of a State
Department program conducted
in cooperation with Experiment
in International Living, a world
wide student travel organization.
The students, three girls and
Cooper To Address Local A&M Club
Edwin H. Cooper will speak on
civilian students at Texas A&M
and 1969 officers will be installed
Wednesday at the regular meet
ing of the Brazos County A&M
Club.
President Bob Roepke said the
Ramada Inn meeting will start at
6 p.m. with refreshments. Din
ner will be at 7.
“It’s a coed meeting,” he added.
“Bring your wife.”
Cooper, past president of the
club, will install seven new offi
cers and three board members,
whose terms extend through
1971.
Formerly assistant to the presi
dent, Cooper became director of
civilian student activities in Sep
tember, 1967. The 1953 A&M
graduate works in enhancing and
developing civilian student life
programs at the university.
nine boys, vary in age from 21
to 23, Stark said.
He said the group’s visit here
ties in with A&M’s participation
in Experiment in International
Living which is coordinated by
the MSC Travel Committee.
Stark hopes the students can
stay in homes where there is a
son or daughter attending A&M.
A&M students have a program
planned for the visitors.
The students, all approved by
the U. S. embassies in foreign
countries, represent universities
in Fiji, Australia, Hong Kong,
Laos, Malaysia, New Zealand,
Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore,
Taiwan, Japan and Korea.
Stark said persons interested
in helping host the students may
call him at 845-1914.
fessor said.
PREVIOUS forums dealt with
controlled economy, information
explosion, business-industry re
strains, international and domes
tic monettary problems and conse
quences of national policy.
The 1969 President’s Forum,
March 31-April 2, at the Palacio
del Rio Hotel near San Antonio’s
convention center, will examine
changing civic responsibilties of
business and industry.
“Speakers channel discussion of
participants,” Pearson explained.
“These leaders of top companies
then describe from many years
experience successes and errors
they made doing the job.”
• “No one can go to school 15 to
17 years and expect to be edu
cated for life work in manage
ment,” Eckles said. “There must
be refreshment of management
teams just as business and in
dustry bring in new machines and
techniques to keep pace and grow
with the economy.”
NEW WAY OF FISHING
WALVIS BAY, South West
Africa (A*) — Hennie Venter was
swimming at the beach when a 20-
pound steenbras, a fish found lo
cally, attacked him in water about
six feet deep. Venter punched and
dazed the fish, dragged it on the
beach and presented it to the
local hotel where it fed the full
quest quota.

Eli L. Whiteley, will attend the

ard Nixon and related activities.
Whiteley, associate professor
of agronomy, is one of 297 Con
gressional Medal of Honor win

Washington festivities.
Prior to the Monday swearing-
in ceremonies, the couple will be
guests for a U.S. House of Repre

the inaugural gala Saturday and
a State Department luncheon and
governors’ reception Sunday.
After witnessing the inaugu
ration, Dr. and Mrs. Whiteley

Sigolsheim, France, Dec. 26, 1944.
He is one of six former A&M
