He also said a bomb was placed in his wife’s automobile last May. The explosive was found while Mrs. McLain was driving on a freeway, but was dismantled and disposed of before it could ex plode. McLain, who won 31 games for the Tigers the past season, talked of the threats at a news confer ence. McLain said he was returning from a television appearance in New York a couple of weeks ago when an airline official told him that a telephoned threat against one of his children had been made. McLain said some of the threat ening telephone calls probably could be attributed to derogatory remarks he made about Detroit fans. Hargett Texas A&M’s Edd Hargett is on the verge of taking over Southwest Conference passing records in career attempts, com pletions, net yardage and touch downs. The Marietta, Tex., senior who played at Linden-Kildare High, needs to complete a nine-yard pass against Arkansas next Sat urday to vault into the all-time SWC lead for passing yardage. He still is 29 completions away from taking over that phase of the records but if he attempts as many as eight passes he will become the throwing-est passer in the league’s history. And, he needs nine more TD passes to reign first in that category. Hargett completed 22 of 49 for 278 yards against Baylor last Saturday night in a 10-9 loss to the Bears. And, although he threw three interceptions, it should be noted that all three hit would-be Aggie receivers be fore bouncing into Baylor hands. With four regular - season games remaining, Hargett in his three-year career at Aggieland has attempted 622 passes. Terry Southall of Baylor is the SWC career leader with 629 attempts. Eight more attempts will put Hargett first. Hargett now has completed 300 BATTALION CLASSIFIED WANT AD RATES i per word 4 per word each additional day Minimum charge—50tf Classified Display 90£^
