Over 200 entrants from the re

portions of Louisiana and Miss
issippi, are expected to partici
pate in the outdoor meet, report
ed Emil Mamaliga, one of the
; meet managers and faculty mem
ber of the A&M Health and Phy
sical Education Department.
‘‘The purpose of the meet is
for AAU competitors to meet the
qualifying times of the AAU
championships,” he continued.
Mamaliga added that these
times are established by AAU
national committees based on past
performances by competitors.
“Competition will be open to
AAU registered athletes 12 years
and older,” he explained.
The other meet manager is
Mrs. Francis Henry of the Col
lege Station Recreation Council.
Meet referee is College Station
Swim Club Coach Pat Patterson.
Judges and other meet oficials
are being chosen from interested
citizens in the area.
The meet consists of swim
ming competition only. One and
three meter springboard and five
and ten meter platform diving
competition will take place in
Houston on the same days.
The A&M meet’s competition
will begin with preliminaries at
Lake Somerville
Site Of Cruises
Two courses, one long and one
short, will be set upon Lake Som
erville Saturday for the A&M
Sailing Club’s cruises, Dr. John
Goeschl, one of the officers, said
today.
The “Mutt and Jeff” cruises
will be set from Overlook Park
at 2 p.m.
A picnic dinner is slated for 7
p.m. following the cruises.
Students or faculty members
who have boats or who are in

noon and finish at 7 p.m. on both
days. Cost of admission will be
50 cents for adults and 25 cents
for children under 12, Mamaliga
pointed out.
Some of the team members
representing College Station in
the meet will be John Greenhut,
Steve Henry, Dale Henry, Edgar
Blacklege, Covert Blackledge and
Robert Stallings.
Also included on the team are
Jim Jeeter, Bennett Freelander,
Bob Barlow, Mason Cloud and
Karl Fryxell.
Girl team members include Tina
Derendinger, Terry Alani, Beth
McArthur, Pat Greenhut and
Mary Cay Galloway.
Meet Manager Mamaliga said
entries have been received from
four Houston groups, Waco’s Fly
ing Dolphins and Austin. Other
major Texas clubs and swimmers
from Louisiana and Mississippi
are expected.
Stallings Named European Coach
Gene Stallings, who coached the
Texas Aggies to the 1967 South
west Conference football title and
a Cotton Bowl win over Alabama,
gets international exposure soon
when he helps conduct a football
training school for coaches and
officials in Europe.
Stallings, along with Missouri’s
Dan Devine and Syracuse’s Ben
Schwartzwalder, will lecture and
teach on the coaches’ pha^se of the
school. Tommy Bell of the NFL
and one other official will handle
the other phase.
The schools will be conducted
at Wiesbaden, Germany and Lon
don, England, starting June 24
and ending July 4. The group will
leave from Dulles Airport in
Washington, D. C. at 8 p. m. June
22 for Germany.
Stallings, who played football
at Texas A&M in 1954-55-56, left
Paul Bryant’s coaching staff at
Alabama to return to his alma
mater in December, 1964. Hi/s
first A&M team, in 1965, had a
3-7 mark. The second was 4-5-1
and the third, last year, won its
final six games to capture the
SWC title, A&M’s first since Stal
lings was a tri-captain and end in
1956.
The European football training
school is being sponsored by the
United States Air Force.

NO MONOPOLY
Dale Henry, Mrs. Francis Henry and Steve Henry make quite a showing- as a family in
volved in swimming, but they won’t be the only ones present at the AAU swimming meet
here Friday and Saturday. The two boys will be competitors and Mrs. Henry is one of the
meet managers. Also shown is Pat Patterson the meet referee, Doug Adamson, another
competitor, and Emil Mamaliga, meet manager.
Priority Ticket
Deadline July 1
Texas A&M football fans have
less than two weeks to make sure
they’re on a priority list for 1968
Aggie football tickets.
The deadline for getting in
ticket orders is July 1. All orders
received before the deadine will
get priority rating for handling.
After that date, orderjs Will be
filled on a first-come, first-served
basis.
A&M Athletic Business Man
ager Wally Groff said his office
already has received orders for
more than 3,000 season ticket/3
and the pace is expected to pick
up greatly prior to July 1.
Tickets for A&M’s first three
games—at LSU, at Tulane and at
Florida State—are priced at $6
each. The seven Southwest Con
ference games have a $5 per ticket
price.
Ticket applications have been
mailed out to some 65,000 people
on various priority list/s such as
Aggie Club members, Stadium
option holders, former students,
etc.
The general public can mail in
ticket orders now, too, and get a
priority handling, if their order
is postmarked prior to July 1. An
extra 25 cents should be included
in all order to take care of post
age and handling.
A&M’s four home games th^s
season are: Oct. 12, Texas Tech;
Oct. 19, TCU; Nov. 2, Arkansas
and Nov. 16, Rice. The Tech and
TCU games are at 7:30 p. m. and
the Arkansas and Rice games are
at 1:30 p. m.
