Page 4 College Station, Texas Tuesday, April 2, 1968 THE BATTALION Aggie Win Streak Hits Seven BA TTALION CLASSIFIEb By GARY SHERER Years ago, the only preserving was done in grandma’s jars. To day, as far as the Texas Aggie baseball team is concerned, they leave their preserving to one per son—Rocky Thompson. The stocky senior from Hous ton answered the relief call for the second straight game Monday afternoon at Kyle Field, and the Ffvont tin 'F'oduc/'ifc; of Thf ‘Restless Onrs Here comes motion picture excitement "the greatest adventure going!" m lOtfilD idlWffctiiRfcS -pksoe EAsfcMAnCcuR WOTMto/fREEWWJR./M™ GrIwM Music by RALPH CARMICHAEL / Executive Producer FRANK R JACOBSON Written and Directed by JAMES F. COLLIER Campus Theatre Now Showing Advanced Tickets $1.00 result was bad for the opposition. As he did in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Texas Christian, Thompson repeated his performance against Missouri’s nine Monday with two innings of hitless, runless pitch ing. The 4-0 Aggie victory made it seven in-a-row for Coach Tom Chandler’s Aggies. The Aggies and Missouri com plete their two-game series to day at Kyle Field. Two weeks ago, the Aggies’ season mark was 4-4 after they opened their current nine-game home stand with a 7-5 loss to Minnesota. The Aggies did a fast regrouping, and have strung to gether seven straight wins. In that skien, the Aggie hitters have put together 33 runs while the pitching staff has limited the other teams to five tallies. The biggest wins of that streak came this past weekend as the Maroon and White made it a complete sweep of T C U with back - to - back victories. Friday, the Aggies blasted the Frog pitching staff with 16 hits and an equal number of runs in a 16-3 Aggie triumph. Saturday, the Aggies proved they could win the close ones also with a 2-0 squeaker over TCU’s ace Mickey McCarty. McCarty was making his first SWC start of the year and the Aggies made it an unhappy one. The double victory pushed the Frogs out of the SWC lead and put the Aggies into a three-way tie for the lead with Baylor and Texas. Also, the three victories over TCU this season (the Aggies topped the Frogs 4-1 at Fort Worth earlier in the season), mark the first times the Aggies have beaten TCU since 1965. This week, the Aggies see no SWC action as they follow up to day’s Missouri game (weather permitting) with a trip to Hous ton Thursday for a game with the Houston Cougars. Meanwhile this week, Baylor and Texas will meet Wednesday and Thursday. So, barring two wins by Texas, first place should be at stake when the Aggies host Baylor in their next home action next week.
