It’s Bo and Jo
Says Belinsky
LOS ANGELES <A») _ “This
is true love,” said Bo Belinsky.
“We’re going to be married as
soon as we can.”
The object of the affections of
baseball’s playboy pitcher is Jo
Collins, 39-24-38, once tabbed
Playmate of the Year by a mag
azine featuring unclad cuties.
She said the marriage will be
in about four months, when her
pending California divorce be
comes final.

mance in an interview at Cocoa
Beach, Fla., with Bob Hunter of
the Los Angeles Herald-Exam
iner. Belinsky did most of the
talking.
It was his first interview since
he vanished from the Houston
Astros training camp after being
suspended for breaking curfew.
“For one time in mv life I
played it straight and asked per
mission,” said the veteran of
countless curfew violations. “I
started by asking for three hours
and finally came down to half
an hour, but “Spec” Richardson
(general manager of the Astros)
still said no. That’s when I
packed and left.”
BELINSKY, who has kept com
pany with such entertainment
notables as Mamie Van Doren,
Tina Louise and Kay Stevens,
said he met Miss Collins in Ha
waii this winter while he was
investigating the possibility of
starting an island due ranch —
“a swinging dude ranch.”
Richardson has said he’ll let
Belinsky stew a few days, then
fine him and bring him back to
camp.
Bo said he’ll try to work things
out, but if the Astros assign him
to their Oklahoma City farm
club, he’ll quit and go back to Ha
waii, where he and Jo will run
that ranch.
“I'm in love,” he said, “and
from now on it’s Bo and Jo.”

GT40 at record breaking speeds
Thursday in the first tune-ups
for Saturday’s 12-hour automo
bile endurance race over the
tough Sebring road course.
Clocked at 112.43 miles per
hour on one lap around the twist
ing 5.2-mile layout, Hobbs
showed again that the GT40
team from England has the speed
to win if the cars can stand up
for the distance.
Hobbs was time at 2:46.5 in
one of his laps, beating the old
record of 2:48.6.

become another John Roseboro?
According to Houston Astros
manager Grady Hatton he just
might be.
“This boy King sure reminds
you of Roseboro,” said Hatton as
he turns on a smiling face when
you talk of Houston’s catching
situation.
King has got that same non
approach to the game.
“He’s got a better arm and has
more power, but doesn’t have
Roseboro’s speed afoot,” says
Hatton. “He just may be Vetter
than Roseboro when he gets a
little more experience.”
Roseboro is now a Minnesota
Twin, but for years the highly
respected backstop he d forth
with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
King, like Roseboro, is a Ne
gro, a lefthand hitting catcher
and carries a rifle for an arm.
