Aggie Booters
Card 7-1 Win
The Aggie soccer team con
tinued their winning ways last
Saturday as they ended their
home season with a 7-1 victory
over Texas Christian University.
The league leading Aggies
have lost only one conference
game this year.
Their last Southwest Confer
ence game for the season will be
played in Austin Saturday against
the University of Texas.
In the team’s last trip to Aus
tin, they lost their only game in
a tournament when the opposing
team eliminated them with a goal
in sudden death. The score had
been tied 0-0 through an extra
period.
Leading the team to its win
ning mark this season were such
players as Carlos Guerra, team
captain, Gilberto Earza, Abdel-
hamid Zid, right inside forward,
Angel Pastor, center forward and
Josef Dine, center fullback.
Meredith To Play
In 49’er Game
DALLAS <7P) — Quarterback
Don Meredith will start the game
at San Francisco with his broken
nose protected by a plastic mask
underneath his helmet, Coach Tom
Landry of the Dallas Cowboys
said Wednesday.
Meredith has returned to work
outs after a visit to a hospital
to get his nose repaired. It was
broken in the game with Phila
delphia Sunday.
“I don’t believe he will be
handicapped a great deal,” said
Landry at his weekly press con
ference. “I think he will be able
to see all right and the plastic
will protect it well from further
injury.”
He explained that Meredith
needed to play so he would be
in better shape for the Eastern
Conference playoff game with
Cleveland here Dec. 24.
Landry said his defense was
starting to mature “real good”
and was playing its best of the
season. But, he added, “we are
not where B w^. ( .want to be as to
quarterback.”
He explained that Meredith’s
injuries had prevented this and
that was a reason why he want
ed Dandy Don to play at San
Francisco.
The ticket sale has begun for
the playoff game and President
Tex Schramm said it had not been
as good as expected. He stressed
that there were plenty of tickets
for sale and that the Cowboys
would accept mail orders.
“We may have a sellout any
way,” said Schramm, “but we
are not able to understand the
slow sale the first day.”
