Get Rich Quick 9 Visits NY
NEW YORK OS’)—A somewhat
bewildered African wearing a
conical straw hat and a hooded
parka-like coat stepped from a
jetliner at Kennedy airport
Wednesday and was engulfed by
newsmen, photographers and dip
lomatic greetings.
Tugging at his trousers, which
were too big, the man stood smil
ing and relaxed through the
barrage, his stout fur-coated wife
at his side, his crippled daughter
in a wheelchair nearby.
For Petrus Ramaboa, it was
part of the chain that has turned
him from a poor farmer in the
newly independent nation of Le
sotho in South Africa to a rich
man.
Earlier this year, Pamaboa’s
wife, Ernestine, found a 601-
carat diamond—the seventh larg
est in the world—in their family
diggings in Letsa-la-Drai.
Ramaboa received more than
$300,000 for the gem.

Earlier, Pope Paul made an un

He thanked the crowd for the
