The Clipper was nearing Rio de nerro on its annual summer lise when it was asked to give ical aid. It reversed course, mdezvous with the Albino and k the captain aboard, complet- 1 what is a fairly routine oc- curence among ocean-going ves sels. It was not routine, however, for the more than 150 college stu dents who make up the crew of the Clipper, many of them at sea for the first time. The students, mostly from Tex as but also from a dozen other states, are enrolled in the “Sum mer School at Sea” program of Texas A&M. For them, going to the aid of another ship was a highly realis tic way of picking up practical experience. The maritime academy cadets are in 4-year programs leading to degrees in marine engineering and transportation. They are putting to test last winter’s class room instruction. This year’s cruise, the fifth in the academy’s 5-year history, be gan June 17 when the Clipper left Galveston. It arrived in Rio for a 6-day stay after a stop at Trini dad, and also was scheduled to visit Recife in Northern Brazil and Curacao. Two Aggies View Rio de Janeiro from Sugarloaf Mountain.
