Page 6 College Station, Texas Thursday, August 3, 1967 THE BATTALION Three Officers GiW Watchers’ Corner Join A&M Staff Three new Army officers have been assigned in the Military Sci ence Department at Texas A&M, announced Col. Jim McCoy, com mandant. Maj. George E. Batcheler of Austin, Capt. Paul F. Thompson of Normal, 111., and Capt. Homer J. Gibbs of Paris will be associate and assistant professors of mili tary science. Field grade officers hold associate professor rank. A 1959 University of Texas graduate, Major Batcheler came to A&M from Fort Benning and the Infantry officer career course. The 30-year-old major spent more than four of eight years service in Germany and Vietnam. He and his wife Lela have three children and reside at 1005 Here ford. Batcheler’s decorations in clude the Bronze Star. Captain Thompson, 29, is due immediate promotion. He served the last year as plans and opera tions officer of the Saigon Sup port Command, Vietnam, and three years in Germanl. The Uni versity of Illinois Distinguished Military Graduate was commis sioned in infantry and transferred to transportation. His military schooling includes the automatic data systems analysis course at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Ind. Thompson and his wife Pamela will reside at 1203 Village Drive and are Presbyterians. A 1960 A&M graduate, Captain Gibbs has been with the 101st Airborne in Vietnam. The 29- year-old artillery officer has been in the Army seven years. He wears the Bronze Star, Air Medal and Commendation Medal.
