The quick look at the overall situation enables commanders to Four Engineers Receive Grants Four Texas A&M University students have been named Union Carbide Engineering Scholars and recipients of $500 scholarships for 1966-67. James E. Steenbergen, senior mechanical engineering major of Plano; Marvin K. Jones, junior chemical engineering major of Wall; Francis H. Kludt, sopho more mechanical engineering major of Orange, and Buford R. Jean, freshman electrical engi neering major of Itasca, were named for the awards. A $3,000 Union Carbide Edu cational Fund grant also includ ed $500 each for A&M’s Chemi cal and Mechanical Engineering Departments, announced Engi neering Dean Fred J. Benson. Selection for the award, which covers tuition and tuitional ex penses, reviews the student’s class standing, grades, character and performance, extra-curricu lar activities, summer and part- time employment, according to Robert M. Logan, student finan cial aid director. C. J. Metz, trustee and secre tary of the Union Carbide fund in New York, announced the grants and scholarships. make rapid and informed deci sions, Col. ACM chapter president Mike Briggs of Bryan said about 200 graduate students, including Air Force Institute of Technology students at A&M attend the meet ing. A 20-minute film on SAC operations and a 20-minute slide presentation on SAC Data Pro cessing Division-organization pre ceded a question-answer session.
