Page 6 College Station, Texas Thursday, December 1, 1966 THE BATTALION Metcalf Lists Seven ‘Starters’ For Game Tonight «^ ft DICK RECTOR TERRY TRIPPET Aggies Ready For Opener By GARY SHERER “We’ve got seven starters. Un fortunately only five of them can play at one time,” said Aggie Head Basketball Coach Shelby Metcalf in discussing the varsity’s home opener tonight against Lou isiana Tech. Battling for the starting berths are Dick Rector, senior captain; three juniors, Terry Trippet, John Underwood and Jerry Payne; and three sophomores, Ronnie Peret, Billy Bob Barnett and Sonny Benefield. “If I had to name a starting five, it would be Peret at center, Trippet and Barnett at the post positions and Rector and Under wood, guards,” said Metcalf, “but this can change by game time.” “They (La. Tech) have a tall team and we hope to be ready for them,” Metcalf added. Tech will have a seven-footer and a near seven-footer in the starting line up to give them a big rebounding edge, at least on paper. The 8 p.m. varsity encounter will follow the Fish basketball team’s first game against Lon Morris Junior College. The fresh man game starts at 5:45. Fish Coach Jim Culpepper an nounced a starting lineup which includes Mac Hooten, 5'11" from Alba, guard; Bill Brown, 6'1” from Galveston, guard; Oliver Biggers, 6'2" from New Braunfels, forward; Mike Heitman, 6'4" from Houston Sam Houston, forward, and Mike Hazel, 6'6" from San Antonio MacArthur, center.
