The Texas A&M Fish close
their season Saturday, hosting the
Texas U. Shorthorns.
In a prelude to the varsity
game, the Fish hope to set the
trend for A&M-T.U. games this
year, with an Aggie victory.
The Fish go into the game 2-2,
with wins over the Baylor Cubs
and the Rice Owlets. They were
defeated by the TCU Wogs early
in the season and last week were
nipped by the Texas Tech Pica
dors.
Victory for the Fish would be
sweeter than usual this year, as
the Shorthorns come into the 1:8©
p.m. encounter with an unbeaten
record. They have knocked off
Baylor, Rice, SMU and TCU.
The last time the Fish beat the
Shorthorns was in 1963 with a
7-0 victory at Austin. Last year’s
score was 26-21.
Fish Coach Jake Helms has an
nounced the following tentative
starting offensive and defensive
lineups:

Weak Tackle—Terry Brewster

Hogs Looking For Bowl Bid
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
The Southwest Conference foot-
hall race ceuld reach its climax
Batnrday—a week ahead of sched
ule.
Or it could, if an upset or two
were thrown in—and this is the
time of the year for them—to be
so mixed up it would take the
final games to straighten it out.
But chances are that the Cotton
Bowl host team will be known
Saturday and the conference
champion just might be estab
lished at the same time.
Arkansas goes to Lubbock to
play a Texas Tech team that
never has beaten it in the nine-
year football relationship of the
two schools. Arkansas can sack
up the Cotton Bowl for the third
straight year by keeping its
record intact and making it 10
In a row.
And should Baylor beat South
ern Methodist, Arkansas also
would take the championship.
However, SMU is a narrow fa
vorite.
For that matter Texas might
even figure in the championship
situation. The Longhorns have
lost two games and if Arkansas
should lose two and Southern
Methodist the same, there would
be a triple tie for the title. Or
should Texas A&M beat Texas
Thanksgiving Day, the Aggies
could tie for the title in place of
Texas.
However, Arkansas would be
the Cotton Bowl team regardless
since it has beaten Texas, South
ern Methodist and Texas A&M.
Besides, A&M couldn’t claim a
Cotton Bowl spot under any cir
cumstance since it is on NCAA
probation.
